Rewriting Articles for the Directories?

Hi there, so is article spinning a good idea or not, and is it a good option to outsource article writing. Would love some help as I am really just getting into all this and as I understand it is a crucial part of SEO.

Once you have put the article to your own website so that you get the credit for the original content, then there is no real need to rewrite it, you can just submit it to article directories as it is.

If you want your article to appear as a new unique article again you need to rewrite it at least 80 - 90% and if you are a good writer than it is probably not a problem but do not use the article spinning software as this can effectively ruin the good well written article and it will do more harm than good.

We do get lot of spinned articles to our article directory and I must say that in most of the time you have to read the sentence five times before you can understand what it suppose to say.

If you can not write or you are not very good at it or you are just busy doing some other stuff then it is good idea to get somebody else to do it for you.

I don't think it's necessary to do much rewriting to get it on another directory, especially if you wait a few days so the first instance gets indexed. I'll often change the title and the first sentence and see both articles indexed. I often get good results when I change the resource box as well. If using ezinearticles, I'd submit there first and once they approve, submit elsewhere (as their site checks for duplicate content).

Only a few directories will check for duplicated content, so just paste it as it is. Im pretty sure you can find out those who delete duplicated content.

hope that article marketing will work well for you, and hope you are doing social marketing on top of that and boosting your backlinks too.

I submit to EzineArticles first, and then submit to other 5 directories also after being approved. They are:

- goarticles.com
- articlesbase.com
- ideamarketers.com
- articledashboard.com
- searchwarp.com

I submit to EzineArticles first, and then put it on my website.

If you read this thread slowly and carefully and all the way through, you'll almost certainly change your mind about doing that, and probably earn a lot more money in the long run as a result, as many others have done.

Tell me. What's your goal by using those articles?

You want to build a name?
You want do drive traffic to your page?
You want to get opt-ins? (pretty much similar to the point above)
You want to drive traffic to anything you can imagine?

I bet the last point is correct. People usually write articles, because they want to drive traffic somewhere.

Now, wouldn't it be a great idea if the content in various directories (and yeah, it can be 100% copy-pasted in those, except a few like Buzzle) would be different from the one on your blog/whatever?

I mean, you should obviously stay in the same niche.

What we do is that we write 2 articles on an entirely different topic - one goes to the blog and the other goes to the directories.

The point is that some guy could read the article in the directory, say "hey, this looks cool", then he comes to our site and reads yet ANOTHER cool article.

That's our way of using article directories. More work, more fun, more satisfied visitors.

This is EXACTLY why I am a big believer of not putting the same stuff on your site, then posting it on article directories. We can sit here and talk about duplicate content till we're blue in the face (which has been done before!

), but Vogin's point is spot-on.

If I've just read your article on EZA, Go Articles, Buzzle, etc, and I was interested enough to click on your link, you had better offer me something new. If it's the same exact content, I'm off your site in 2 seconds. BUT, if you offer me something new and unique, I'm sticking around to check it out.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but back when I was working for London Brokers (a company that requires one original article and two rewrites per assignment), we were taught that no more than three words from the original article could be in the same order or place in the second article.

So if you're asking how much you should rewrite an article (at least to make it look unique in the eyes of the search engine), I've always used this rule as my base point. I don't know if it's correct or not, but it made sense and it's not too hard to follow.

While you really don't have to change anything to syndicate an article, if you really feel the need to change something, rework the title and the first paragraph. That's what will display in the serps unless the directory lets you put in a custom description to go in the meta tags.

...and you can use DupeFree Pro - Avoid Duplicate Content and Online Content Plagiarism to check for any instances of three in a row as you rewrite. Doesn't take long at all.

I agree with this, but I just point the article at a different page or blog post on my site. I just started submitting my web content to the article directories after reading the thread mentioned earlier by Alexa. I'm also taking out the keywords except for the anchor text in the resource box as I don't want the ezinearticles to do better than my own.

Still developing my strategy on all this though, but I think if you just point the article at a different page you should be fine.

Thanks for your replies, everyone. It's good to have this cleared up. I also checked out the thread Alexa Smith had put a link to. I'm definitely going to put any articles that would be on my site, on my site first, and then to EZA, and everything else. My plan is to link the directory articles directly from the resource box to an internal page on my site...to an article which compliments what the article on the directories was saying in the first place.

You should always post your articles to your own site first. You wrote it so why give the credit to someone else?

You can submit the article to as many directories as you want without changing it, so long as the particular directory allows it. A lot of them will want it posted there first and that's because Google will only show one or two in the SERPs. The others will still get indexed but will only show up in the supplemental results. (that's where Google tells you some results have been omitted which are very similar and you can repeat the search if you want to see them).

Most article spinning software is rubbish. There are some good ones, but you have to use them properly otherwise you end up with gibberish. Glad you're not planning on turning out more garbage.

Submitting the exact same article to different directories can still have 10 on the 1st page. Between different directory's headers, footers, side bars and ad blocks, 500 words the same still has the entire page 70% unique.

Remember when submitting to EzineArticles they actually do approve of the article having been posted on your own blog or website first. I believe they encourage you to post it at their directory first, but they will not decline publishing an article that has been posted at your own website or blog.

At least that's my experience with them.

I'm also doing the article submission and I'm just submitting it on 20 article directories that provides instant approval or they approve it easily.
Honestly, sometimes I rewrite my articles but not totally a copy paste. And I don't post them on my website. I submit them first on my blog and submit on article directories. Somehow, it also help me to build my links and improves my rankings.

I generally prefer to post the articles first to the Ezine and then when it gets approved, spin it and submit the same to several other article directories.

I had been doing this for the past two years and never ever had a drop in my serps and position of my results had eventually increased but never decreased. You know Google dance, it plays with me sometimes.

The articles submitted to various other(remember other article directories are not crap, they are from top 50 article directories sorted by pagerank) directories give so many valid backlinks for each article and which eventually push my sites a little forward with the extra significance.

It takes time, considerable amount of time, but which does not??

The fruits are sweet, rnt they?

my question is...

one of your blog posts may be unique but you still have to build up backlinks to bring it up in the serps. unless you are already over PR 5, it will be tough for you. so why not let the article directories do the work?

when someone visits your site, he can always find several other useful articles. a more condensed source of solutions to his problem!

and if you can get your article on the blog indexed first and you have links in the article directory pointing back to your homepage, it is going to take a lot of less effort and undeniable results.

I personaly don't think you realy have to re-write them unless you have got a lot of time to spare. You can always spend that time writing other new articles.

You can work on two ways. First, make sure that you post your article to your site. You won't get penalized if you submit the same article to different article directories.
If you want to rewrite it, then that would be a great idea too but a little time consuming - Google would find it as a fresh content.

Hey, I thought I'd just post this here since I don't believe it really deserves a new thread. I'm about to join Buzzle, but on their membership page it says: "We do NOT accept duplicate content i.e. you should NOT submit any article that already exists on some other website. If you intend to submit ONLY original and unique articles, please fill out the form below to become a member."

I just want to be sure I understand this. I believe this means it can't be something you submitted to any other article directory, or even from your own website. Or could this be just a reference to people who steal articles and submit them as their own?

Buzzle is an odd duck as far as article directories go. They want content that will only appear on their site first. If you do the smart thing and post it to your own site first, Buzzle doesn't want it.

I don't use Buzzle for this reason alone.

If you can rewrite articles quickly then its worth doing that.

I would firstly submit your articles to your site/blog first, ensure that it gets indexed first and then submit to EZA.

Before I spin my articles, I submit the original of the 3 rewrites to Ezines, then the other 2 to properties like Hubpages/Squidoo and/or an article directory such as Buzzle/Sooper Articles/Articles Alley etc.

It IS worth submitting to Buzzle. Where you can create as much unique content as possible DO! Ive found that unique content does help to drive traffic and increase SERPS. Dont waste your time with low quality directories but the top 10 or so. You might find that in the long-run article directories are looking for unique content. I know that every time someone submits to one of my article directories, I check it for dupes and reject it straight away....I don't want dupe content.....Im sure some other webmasters share the same attitude!

If you MUST spin articles then ensure you re-write each sentence at least 3 times and then spin as many words within each sentence to create nested spins. To do this effectively you must have VERY high quality articles initially and also a good command of English. It can get tedious and requires a great deal of concentration not to mention a great deal of time if you want to do it properly.

Sadly, theres no one-click solution to article spinning, only use this as a last resort if you think you can't churn out rewrites quickly! Its better to spend time creating some content that will add value than useless drivel.

theres no penalty for submitting the same article to multiple directories, the only disadvantage is that top-notch directories like ezines, buzzle, etc only accept unique articles, so by spinning your article you can get it submitted to more directories. unless you have a software tool like The Best Spinner or Magic Article Rewriter, however, spinning the article is definitely not worth the time

article directories is not going to get slapped with duplicate content, but I woudln't put the same article on my site, I would put a unique version on my site, make sure you submit to ezine first, I'm not sure if they do a duplicate content test or not but thats always what I been told, is to submit to ezine first.

I would suggest submitting your original article to EzineArticles first; wait for EzineArticles to approve it. Then, submit it to the other top 10 directories. Revise approximately 20 - 30% of the original article before posting it to your site.

I agree. Articles should be posted on the website first so it will be indexed there. Next, you can start uploading it to Ezine articles. I also consider rewriting since it makes more sense than just spinning especially if you’ll use applications. Aside from this, rewriting it will be faster than spinning so you’ll get your contents faster than the usual.
