Hi Warriors

This is my first post and usually there is a "say hi" category for newbies but I couldn't find it here.

I'm a newbie to the warrior forum but I've been doing internet marketing on the side for a couple of years with mixed success.

The biggest issue that I have is that most of my domains are NZ domains. Many are great names but being a small country the amount of traffic is pretty small.

Do you guys have any tips for getting more traffic to the NZ domains.

cheers and thanks in advance.

    Hiya

One way to get more traffic is to add more content on a regular basis. The more content you add the more pages that will rank in the SERP's. So go after the long tail phrases for your market and over time the trickle will turn into more worthwhile traffic for you.
    Good luck

Am based in NZ as well and working on my first local domain site so this could be handy.
All I think you need to is is basic SEO. It looks way too easy to rank for keywords in NZ.

BTW, where do you buy .co.nz domain for a cheap price? I paid just under NZ$50 (approx US$35) for a domain name and felt ripped off given that .com domains only cost as little as US$14
    Look forward to your responses.

    Cheers,
    Dennis

Hi there, I am also in NZ - to be honest all of my domains are dot coms because I found the cost of the dot co dot nz's were too expensive even allowing for the exchange rate.

But I would imagine the same ideas about getting traffic are the same to an NZ site as they are to any other. You can use article marketing, vidoe marketing, press releases and other US based sites to send traffic to an NZ site the same as any other.

However, if you are looking specifically for NZ traffic then I would recomment GumTree, Craigslist for NZ, Trademe and Smile City as possible advertising venues. Trade and Exchange (TE.co.nz) are also a good place to advertise for free if you have products to sell.

Nice to see you on the forum

Google gives more credence and juice to your own country's domain extension. So, generally, .co.nz will out-rank .com - all things being equal.

Yo fellow kiwi here to. I have a few NZ domains and have done alot of consulting work for NZ companies. NZ is an easy market to crack so don't sweat. I have mainly been in the health niche so I was hanging out round forums like NZgirl, everybody.co.nz the many contest sites we have, facebook marketing, teaming up with other websites with related customer basis.

We also managed to increase site traffic on one of the main sites I worked with by 75% in about 6 months most of it being NZ traffic. What we were doing though was link building overseas with health sites and getting PR that way. We also cracked a few good relationships with other health businesses that allowed us to write for them etc and we got some good traffic and PR that way.

I'm not sure what your niche is but start with the basics like directory submits and social networking links and you might be surprised how quickly you start to rank for your terms. Also if you are able to sell to Australia, look to link build there to, I am not sure why but we got a ton of Australian visitors.

I buy domains at 1st domains. I have heard that there is cheaper out there though.

Someone mentioned tradme up there to. Trademe forums, I am not sure if you can still post there but I used to get massive spikes in direct traffic whenever I semi spammed that forum lol
