Hello...attn Marketing People; Got a question for ya;

One of my programs is placing "TV Channel Guides" in every room of a Hotel. These are free-standing plastic displays about 5" wide by 8" high. They have the TV Channels for the room on one side and ads for local restaurants (Pizza Delivery) on the other side.

These are free to the hotels and the hotels are happy to put these in their rooms because they provide needed information to their guests so they can find their favorite tv channels.

My displays also answer the Main question tourists have; "Where do we eat?" or "Who do I call to get a Pizza delivered to my room?"

I've been doing this for about 5 years now with over 20 hotels participating. Businesses that want to reach Tourists pay to have an ad on my In-Room Guides....especially Pizza Delivery.

I've been noticing how popular Cell Phones have become and I believe that almost 100% of travelers today...carry Cell Phones.

So...I'm looking at providing businesses that want to reach Tourists (especially Pizza Delivery) with a "MOBI-SITE" so their websites can be found on Mobile Devices....so the tourists can just use their cell phone to find local restaurants and other businesses they'd be interested in.

I'm thinking that local businesses would LOVE to have their business accessible via Tourist's Cell Phones...especially Pizza Delivery biznesses (that can also offer a Discount Coupon to show the delivery person)

I would offer to make the "Mobile Websites" for these businesses (I could easily create a mobi-site for each biz)

My pizza delivery sponsors now get an average of 1.5 pizzas per month per room (100 rooms = 150 pizzas a month) because of my In-Room Guides.

I believe I could double that number...3 pizzas per mo per room...by going to Mobile Marketing...having hotel guests use their cell instead of using the wired in Room Telephone...that only provides info to ONE business at a time.

So...my question is;
WHAT should I charge a Pizza Delivery shop to have their Mobile Site accessible by Hotel Guests?

I now get $1/mo/rm.

Would changing my program to "MOBILE" double the value?...triple the Value? ...to Pizza Delivery biznesses?

I'm also thinking that having Restaurant MENUS accessible by Hotel Guests would be HIGHLY valuable to restaurants.

Any thoughts or ideas on this are much appreciated.

Thank you,
Midas Man

    Hi,

    I'm curious as to what extra benefit either the pizza folks or the hotel visitors get from the mobi site.

    It seems that if I'm in a hotel room and there is an ad for a pizza place in the local restaurants guide, it takes just a few seconds to call and get an order placed.

    With the mobi site, I have to go to my cell phone and type in the url and then what is the value add for me? Can I order on line? Is it faster to type in my order than just calling direct?

    I think to get more for your ads, you need to show enhanced value and these are the things I would wonder about if I had a pizza place advertising in hotels.

    I'm asking because my pizza friends have played with lots of these things and they find that the simpler it is for people to order, the better.

    I think Steven brings up good questions. What I would do is work on answering how this makes it easier for the customer to order. To do that I would roll out this product for one business ( whichever is you have the best relationship with ) for 3 months totally free.

    Spend those 3 months gathering data and optimizing. While you won't make any more for that time you will have all the answers you need to know exactly how much to charge. Plus you will get less push back from the other businesses when you can show the data to back up your pricing.

      "With the mobi site, I have to go to my cell phone and type in the url and then what is the value add for me? Can I order on line? Is it faster to type in my order than just calling direct?"

      Now...they have to go to the in-room phone to phone for a Pizza or make a reservation at a restaurant.

      By using their Cell Phone they can see a "Directory" of local businesses... order a Pizza (just Click a box and the number is dialed for them)...get a Discount Coupon.....see Menus of participating restaurants or Real Estate Listings...just to name a couple.

      It's the "More Stuff" they can get access to with a Cell....is what the extra value is...imo.

      With the present setup....I can only offer a stationary Ad for restaurants or realtors. Whereas by offering Cell users a Directory where they can see MANY restaurant MENUS and realtors Listings.

      Maybe I don't charge the Pizza Delivery people extra BUT...I can ADD many more businesses and more value to for businesses...with a Mobile Directory and Mobile Access to their products.

      GOOD responses. Shows you're "thinking". Thank you.

        Maybe mentioning on your TV Channel guide that the Mobi Directory, besides eateries and real estate agents, coupon codes for fun stuff for kids in the area.

        If it is a family style hotel, that would make your directory even more attractive.

        Thoughts, anyone?

    As a used car salesman, I think the best way to do this is hard sell.

    Feature ---> Benefit

    Keep the conversation moving and show all the ways your idea or product can give them a free benefit. $1 per month per room is one thing, $10 per month per room is another. You might share the occupancy rate, share the types of travelers who come through, do some demographics work.

    You have to show that restaurant or whatever business, that having their ad sitting next to the TV is WAY better than having an ad in the Yellow Pages, tucked down in the drawer by the bed. Remind them that when someone goes in a hotel room, the first thing they do is drop their bags and grab for the remote.

    Feature: immediate impression...Benefit: the guest sees your restaurant's name and logo and picture before they even think to look for a phone book!

    Feature: rich media experience...Benefit: why pull out a phone book when the guest can use their very own cell phone to bring up your local business in the palm of their hand?

    Feature: increased traffic...Benefit: would you want to take your company out of this new advertising offer and allow ANOTHER competing business to have that prime location staked out on the TV stand?

    I could go on...and YOU should...find those buttons and punch them!

    I like the idea of mobi sites. Not everyone is in a hotel when they want to find food. My big question about mobi sites is...

    Don't most people use the Yellow Page app to find things on their phone? YP has click to call and basic info, like you would find on a mobi site. And if this is the case, why would you bother with a mobi site?
