Is The Warrior Forum Being SPAMMED

I know that from time to time a noobie floats into town and tries posting a new thread with a blatant hop link in it .. bless em.

But I am noticing a few more weirdo comments from new members trying to promote anything from houshold lamps to leather products.

Are we being spammed or is it all just in my mind?

It's only in your mind John. ;-)

Some of them are humans making stupid decisions, others are bot based.

Classic forum spam... "Hey, that's awesome. Check out my sig."

The mods are doing a pretty good job of whacking them as we go IMHO. I always try to report them when I see 'em to help. (we all should)

If you see any spam you can use the Report Post button.

Although some of the spammers are changing tactics, to get around the rules.

A lot of newly registered accounts, have recently started posting one liners on old threads.

They deliberately target popular old threads, because as soon as they have posted their one liner, other warriors post after them (because the topic is popular) and they are harder to detect.

          pretty well spot on

No it's not imagination, they are filtering in everywhere, todays modern spammers are very adapt at looking as human as possible, i monitor a forum and the biggest daily challenge is deleting the spammers.

they use decoy posters now with real names, these decoys look harmless as they never have a Sig, but what they do is post silly little questions, what is the best place to get seo ?

then like clockwork they come out of the woodwork with their best attempt at normal replies.

they (if you do this daily) are easy to spot, and they leave trade mark tell tale signs, / quirks i suppose and without delay you can pick them up and delete all posts, the easiest way is to leave the decoys and accounts in place and flag them, then like sheeple they just follow in, so in a controlled way they can be deleted.

They are also think somehow that by posting deep into an old thread no body will find them, they have mastered the false signature and change these up as well, or will act like miss daisy , nice n sweet then change out their Sig's.

Mostly behind this are the so called shady buy links / forum link peddlers and once you see these guys work they are easy to spot and do run here but because of the size n speed of this forum many would slip through the cracks.

Its to the mods credit that this type of spam is noticed only occasionally, they do a super job because I can only hazard a guess that it is a huge job to clear it up on a daily basis
