Have you found it harder to rank .US domains?

I'm struggling with an exact match .us domain.
Usually i would get .com .net or .org quite faster and with less effort, for about the same competition (low) but this .us domain of mine, is just stuck at page 5 or so....dancing a bit there, but no major improvement. It's been 2 months now, i know not too much but i've managed to get the general tlds within 2 weeks on page 1 for similiar level of comepetition.

Searching the web, i've found handful of other people complaining about the same, and of course bunch of blind google believers, stating that google doesnt make a difference, which would be my guess as well, if i haven't had this first hand experience.

Of course there are too many other factors, so i can't be 100% sure either. So if you've had similar experience and sound reasons to believe it's because of the TLD, please do share here

.us domains do have a harder time ranking, in my experience, but the payoff for me has been that when I finally rank high enough, the adsense clicks are a lot higher than the other extensions.

It is tougher but the payoff is worth it if you are using adsense as an income source.

I have a 3 year old .us domain name (its a wordpress site), with the exact keywords I want to rank in, and it barely can touch page 2 of google.

There for a little while it was ranking well on the first page of google - around number 6, 7 or 8,,, but has since dropped back to page 2 or 3.

I think that if I updated the site on a regular basis, it might get a better ranking, but as it stands, it just floats around.

It isn't the .us extension that is hurting you. It's the competition for the keyword. You know there is serious keyword competition when .com, .net, .org and .info are taken, leaving you with only .us.

Whereas if HugeRedBoomerang.com is available, there is probably little keyword competition there evidenced by the fact that it was even available.

while that might be a sign, in this case the competition is low
and the other exact match LTDs are either parked or 404
