one off or 3 mth course product - newbie q

Hi

New to products.

I am wavering over which type of course to do.

Either making a one off 1 hour or so of video content product to release via clickbank and would go at

$47

I have started creating content and can see how I would finish it soonish.

But my real goal is a 3 month course released in weekly lessons at around $97 a month.

Both are in the videomaking niche on same topics.

Am I better to get one product out there to test how it all works and gauge interest. Then later do the 12 week course and put the one off into the long course as a bonus.

or do I go for the 12 week one straight off, create a months content in advance, open it and then add content as members go through week by week to give them the 12 weeks.

So basically go direct for the bigger idea or start small?

thanks people

You could always start with the book first and then when the course is completed offer it as an upsell of the book. Remember, you will also be able to market the course to those who have bought the book (before the course is online) if you get them to subscribe to your list after purchase.

thanks, however as topic is videomaking wanted to do it all in video which is an advantage over all the videomaking books on amazon and text based blogs

Why don't you make both products ? If you want to make both then go for it!

But what i would suggest would be to link the products together. You might want to take a look at Russell Brunson's Micro Continuity program, it would work rather successfully with the process of one video and then a three month video series.

You should offer the first video as the first part of the membership site. The first video would cost say $4.95 and would give a weeks access to the course, once the week is up then it is time for fixed continuity of $97 a month for 3 months.

The first video would summarize the entire course that they are going to get for $97 a month. It would tell them what and give some great information but all the key stuff is left out and provided in the actual 12 week course.

Then you simply create the 12 week course.

    Hope that helps

    thanks,

should have said the one hour course plan is to have 10 - 15 videos of 3 - 5 minutes each adding up to around one hour but all available to view soon as they get in, so people feel they are getting a lot for their money.

but I like the idea of one leading to the other.

I guess I get daunted when I think of 3 months of content though I have loads of subject I want to teach.
