I've just got this mouse:
SmartFish

and love it.

But, I was wondering if you all could point me to a good (and relatively inexpensive) wrist rest of some kind. I've been using trackballs since forever so this is new to me. Its a small thing I know but I'd appreciate the help.

Does that mouse really help your wrist, Eric? I know you're looking for a rest, sorry I don't have any suggestions for one!

      Interesting mouse.
I can't help you with information about a wrist rest but, like Chris I would like to know if the mouse helps?
      Thanks

Ergonomically, wrist rests tend to compress the nerves in your wrist and actually damage them.

    Just so you know.

Didn't know that actually. The mouse does help as my hand is in constant motion rather than being stuck in one position (a la my trackball). I had noticed that as of late it was hurting me and so found this. I seriously WANT that keyboard.... So CD any of those gel mouse pads with wrist support are actually no good? Curious: What do you all use for mice, etc? Is the whole ergonomic thing a farce?

bwahahahhah, thanks Kev! Yeah I made s very slight change that helped: I removed my EZA mouse pad, and it all works find now. its a difference of a couple of inches but it helps. And I think I'll look into a keyboard tray as well.

They're universally denounced in the ergonomics world. I use a Microsoft Optical Trackball. I love it. I couldn't use a mouse again - just can't stand them. Trackballs FTW.

If you think you need a wrist rest for your mouse or keyboard, it's generally because your desk is too high. Keyboard trays are a good thing; Jitterbug makes an excellent one, but they run in the $350 range.

I use a gel wrist rest for the mouse and a rubber pad in front of my keyboard. Sometimes a Tylenol helps too.

    Cypher,

I watched the video, and I'm not sure I understand why you want
a wrist rest. There will be times when you'll move your wrist up and
    off of the rest. Right?

It just seems like that mouse is not supposed to be used with a rest.
    That's my impression.

Also, you can do stretching exercises for your hands and wrists that
will prevent nerves from getting pinched, etc. I've been doing them
for quite a while and they help - no wrist/nerve issues.

I think it also depends what your issue is. If your wrist hurts (carpal tunnel issues), then a write rest might not help (is it compresses the nerves further, as I think CDarklock said). I tend to get tennis elbow type issues when I use the mouse too long. Seems to help if the arm is not extended too far when you clench the mouse or move the scroll wheel, at least that's what one Dr. said online - something about it being unnatural to grasp things for too long, especially with the arm extended.
