Building a List With Sales...

Hi Warriors,

This is my second thread today which makes me feel like I am abusing the system. The problem is I have finally got my head around most of the basic-intermediate IM principals and have become addicited to learning more when I should go back to practicing. Regardless, I am currently building my master-plan of action and have one more topic that needs clarity before I can set it in stone and push forward. List building...

I understand it needs to be done and I have read some comments from Gjabiz, Shaun Oreilly and Andy Beveridge - but one thing that Gjabiz said that stuck with me, and it makes sound sense, is that it is better to have 1000 buying subscribers than 100,000 freeloaders.

I am a professional writer currently looking at releasing a few of my own products over the next few months but I would like to know whether it makes sense (does it work?) and if it is possible (how?) to sign up customers who have purchased an ebook to become a subscriber at the same time. I would of course like to give them the option of whether they want to sign up or not. I know this option is available with most ecommerce websites but what about with paypal?

As always, any input and advice appreciated. I promise I will pay it forward .

When your e-book buyer makes a purchase, send them a confirmation email with aweber.

In reality, though, they should already be on your list from an intro e-book. Create a free gift to squeeze them onto your list so you can make your real pitch.

Always build a buyers list! Your instinct on this is correct. Nothing is more powerful than having a growing list of people who have actually spent money on your stuff before. Just get an account at aweber.com, and use a service like e-junkie.com. You simply upload your ebook to e-junkie for secure downloading and integrate it with Paypal. There's a tutorial on how to do that at e-junkie. It's very easy. Then you'll be all set. Every buyer will get a confirmation email from Aweber to go on your list. Or, you can set your Aweber list to be single opt-in, and they'll be on your list even if they don't confirm. I prefer to get them to confirm, but others here will argue not to bother with buyers. I can see both sides, but I usually err on the side of caution when it comes to emailing people.

That's it in a nutshell. Easy, fast, and not expensive at all.

    Good luck,
    John

I think buyers are great... but don't you have to have a list to sell something to?

I am offering great FREE content on my opt-in list... THEN, I market to them. This approach is working for me.

I will look into ejunkie, though.... It sounds interesting.

I have 2 lists. One list is from free offers I've promoted and the other list is paying customers...

This is an excellent idea because then when the free customer purchases something, they have "converted" to the paying customers list. Of course, this goes both ways...

I use Delavo, parse the buyer to a single opt-in list with
GetResponse. Buyer is auto-subscribed with no confirm
    required.

There are plenty of ways to do this - I have some notes
written down somewhere - PM me and I'll send them to
    you.

What I am doing is I use my own membership script and only the member can access the files inside the members area. What you need to do is to have your product inside the members area with lots of bonuses.

    Hi,

Thanks for the response guys. This has definately helped me out. I think Zues´method seems the easiest although I will probably use a mixture of e-junkie and clickbank with two different domains on the same product.

As for the list building, I will concentrate on both the free and the buying folk - at least then that gives me future opportunity to promote my own products once the list grows.

    Thanks again for the insight.

    Antony.

When you launch the product you will need to invest in a membership script and then pay someone to install it and integrate it with aweber.

Take a look at how other people in your niche are doing it and use the same script so that it's already familiar with your buyers. Just make sure that the buyer doesn't have to jump through hoops to get access to the product, that's a sure way to stop any repeat business. There's certain websites I won't buy from again as they just made it far too complicated to complete the signup process.

    Here's what I consider a good flow.

    buy button
Sign-up page - credit card / paypal details entered
Confirm page - tell me what to do next

Some people will say that having an opt-in page before payment is good as if the order fails you can follow-up with this hot prospect to figure out why the order failed.

Apologies for the complicated answer, but the key thing is copy the sites that you liked and bear in mind what objections you've had during an ordering process.

Lastly consider if you want to do anything fancy like 1 click upsells when picking a script.
