Question to All Warriors: What if I went around doing IM with a pseudo-identity?

Hello Warriors,

I hope you're all having a great weekend.

I was getting ready to finally start working in the IM niche, starting with offering services to IMers and building up from there. However, I'm somehow not comfortable using my actual name and go public with it. So, I was wondering about adopting a different name. I'll be showing myself in a lot of videos and stuff; so one might think that I'll get spotted by some people, but I find it very unlikely, for obvious reasons.

So, just wanted to ask all your Warriors here... Would you trust someone with a pseudo-identity, provided the person provided great value with everything he had to offer? Would a person like this be able to build very good reputation with everyone - the new people starting off and the veterans & champions in the IM industry alike?!

Any opinion would help. Thanks in advance

People do it all the time. I know one IMer who uses a nice, American-sounding name instead of his very Polish real name. And outside IM, people buy a lot of Marilyn Manson and Lady Gaga CDs, even though their "real" names are Brian Warner and Stefani Germanotta.

I have several names, depending on the niche I'm working in. I can't see a problem with it, providing you're not being fraudulent about it.

Don't be so sure about people not recognising you online though - I was contacted by someone through my vetwriter website who wanted me to check and edit her ebook on breeding dogs. It turns out she lives half an hour up the freeway from me, and she is a lady I visited with a friend when my daughter was a baby, 9 years ago. The internet can be a small place. :-)

Many big name IMers use pseudo names. Eben Pagan is quite open about his and I've heard that Frank Kern uses one in the dog training market.

I see no problem with it. As long as it is not used for deceiving people because you to want to market low quality product or if you want to cheat people out of money

In IM everyone knows me as a tall, hairy SOB named Kevin Riley, but in reality I'm a petite, dead sexy blonde.

Well, just think about names like "PotPieGirl" - she's quite respected and although she actually tells people her real name, she is commonly referred to by that funky nickname
So if something like that works, anything probably should without a problem *g*

To be honest if I was starting up again I'd use an alias every time

Way back it didn't seem to matter too much

    What about the Rich Jerk?

That was probably one of the biggest examples of what you are talking about. I don;t think it did the marketer (Kelly Felix) too much harm.
