How long did it take you to get your list into the thousands?

Hi Warriors


Im nearly at the 1000 mark on my list and I feel confident that I can increase further by continuing to market my site. Just out of interest how long did it take you guys to build your list up to a comfortable level?

    One thing I do regret is not actuallyt building a list to start with, but then when I started to see the potential I couldn't stop! To get past the 1k mark it took me around 9months as like I said I didn't actually take it serious at 1st! Personally once you hit the 1k mark I think its all about rinse and repeat and the numbers on your list will soon increase!

    You can actually almost double this list overnight with a Joint Venture ("i'll send to my list if you send to my list" typa a deal). Just find someone with a list that each of you can benefit from each others customers.

    How long did it took you to build a list over a thousand? In my case I am not there yet, but I already started building my list.

    About 7-8 months for me to reach 1,000. Concentrate more on adswaps, I use safeswaps it is a great way to build your list a lot quicker.

      I think it depends on what is your target. I have inserted web-form of my autoresponder into my most visited post and I got freqent signups every day, but my sells comes down as readers get diverted to signup process. So, I shifted form into sidebar. Now I am getting sells but signup rate cames down. This means it depends on what is the target of yours.

        Hi
        It all depend on your target and your goal you set for yourself..When you decide you want by next week a 1000 subscribers you can achieve it easily,write the target market on your pc screen on focus on it.

        There so much strategies to get list subscribers,but remember you can have a 1000 subscribers.....but will they take action on the projects you set-up?

    It took me 6 months in the IM niche for my free ebook, BUT - I made a mistake by not forcing double opt-in.
    I had 7000(!) downloads of my book on the first 2 months without spending thousands on ads - only 350 of them clicked the opt-in confirmation email...
    bottom line - is you give something for free - double opt-in !!!

      Were you monetizing that list prior to the opt-in attempt?

      Meaning if you had 7000 downloads of the free book weren't the 7000 recieving immeadiate upsells via autoresponder campaigns? That would have shown you the list's true quality probably sooner (and in a more important way) than an opt-in count later...

        Don't get me wrong, Cathrine.
        The book itself contains a lot of affiliate links (that's the whole idea)
        so I earned a nice sum. (BTW - I am about to release it to all IMer to use, keep following me :-) )

        The question was about the list
        You cannot start serious email campaigns with out a good opt-in system
        well, you might do it manually but you will not be able to really automate it.
        What I was saying that instead of having few thousand on my list I had few hundreds - that's prior to the double opt-in process.

        I work with Aweber and the only way you can automate the service with them is by having the subscribers confirm that they approve receiving email from me

    Don't get hung up numbers.

    I'm a member of safe-swaps and sometimes the people with small lists do far better than those with bigger lists (myself included).

    It all depends on how you generated the list, are they passionate buyers or tyre kickers who will never buy anything online?

    Make sure that you have a marketing funnel to turn these leads into profit, and then work out how to get more traffic and convert it better.

    If it's the site in your signature then it needs some serious work, the only good thing about it is that you have your own face on it - everything else is just generic "make money online" crap.

    Simplify the page down and make it clear what you're giving away and how it can help you. At the moment you're in the classic newbie mistake of trying to teach other people how to make money online when you can't even do it yourself yet.

    I hope this gives you a kick in the right direction.

    I got to 300 in a month. At that rate, I could reach 1k in 3 months. Using a number of strategies though, forum marketing, ad swaps, WSO and solo ads....
