$7DSS - Promoting $25, $47, $197 products to a $7 Dollar List or Buyers? HELP....

Hello guys again, For promoting a $7 item, and then further $25, $47,$97, $197 products. (of the same product, but BETTER Versions of it - videos and audios included etc)

Question a) Do all of them above versions of the product ($7 item, $25, $47,$97, $197 ) Have to be on the same domain? or you would advise have a seperate domain for each of them?

eg

www.Mydomain.com ($7 item),

www.Mydomain.com/upsell1 ($17 item)

www.Mydomain.com/videoTutorial ($27 item)

www.Mydomain.com/Upsell2 ($47 item)

www.Mydomain.com/videotutorial3 ($97item)
(made up examples)

Question a) so for the product would you suggest I do it like the above?

Question b) or Seperate domain for each of the 5 ?

Question c) If the same domain for all 5, would I have to install $7DSS or RAP 5 times, (one for each subdirectory)

Autoresponder email Question

Question d) for them 5 products, would i need 5 sets of autoresponder messages (Each one promoting the NEXT level of the item) ?? - or can it somehow be Each Email series (per product level) Can promote More than JUST the next level, but 3-4 items can also be promoted aswell?

Ie, the email AR series after purchasing the $7 item can promote the $17, $27 and $47 item, and even the $97 item.......RATHER THAN Just promote the $17 item only?

Question e) What would you suggest in this above AR Series?

Remember all of the above are for the SAME product (but the higher the price, the more you get, eg, audios, videos, articles, plr articles)...more detailed.

I'd put them on the same domain.

I'd also do it like this: promote the product in general, and then on your "Buy Now" page, offer the $7, $17, and $27 products. Most people will go for the $17 product. Whichever one they choose, do a SINGLE upsell which starts at the one they picked and offers the next two levels above it.

So if they take the $27 one, you offer:

    - Yes, upgrade me to the big $47 product!
    - Yes, upgrade me to the $37 product!
    - No, I'll just stick with the $27 product.

If they take the $17 one, you offer:

    - Yes, upgrade me to the $37 product!
    - Yes, upgrade me to the $27 product!
    - No, I'll just take the $17 product.

And with the $7 one, you get the picture. It's more of an "are you sure?" page.

In most cases, this single upsell should get you an order for the $27 product.

Once you've sold them the product, add them to a different list for each product AND a single common list. Your single common list assumes they bought the big top-of-the-line product, and acts like they have the whole thing, so you expand on and discuss the stuff that was in the $47 product. Over the course of the first week or two, this reminds them that they bought a lower-level version of the product and don't have all that cool stuff you're talking about.

Then you hit them with an offer of the $47 product. $7 buyers get an offer at full price, $17 buyers are offered a $37 deal, $27 buyers a $27 deal, $37 buyers a $17 deal. Send the $47 buyers something extra for free.

There are lots of ways to structure this, but stick to two or three choices on each page. More than that gets overwhelming.

        have you tested this ?

No, and I have no intention of building a product with five different versions just so I can test the proper way you should market your products.

No i dont mean have you tested it for me, i mean the fact that they purchase the $17 item on average ?

          Cheers very much,

And would it be fiddly to integrate the $7, $17, $27 product Subscribers/prospects into each different aweber list? (or is this easy to do using RAP, with some form you fill in to make it simple ?)

Sorry I got snippy there. I'm having a bad weekend.

In general, if you give someone three choices, they'll pick the middle one.

This is a well-known aspect of psychology. They keep running and re-running tests on it. I don't think a year goes by that the Journal of Consumer Research doesn't have some article on the details around this phenomenon.

Roughly half of the people given three choices will pick the middle one.

So when you do the math, you have it spec out like this:

            Initial offer: 25% $7, 50% $17, 25% $27.

Then you move on to your upsells, which go like this:

            6.25% $7
            25% $17
            37.5% $27
            25% $37
            6.25% $47

Your average revenue per customer comes out to $27. When you do your upsell, assuming you convert 10% (which is not unreasonable), 9.375% of your customers will pay you another $27, taking your average revenue per customer to $29.53 later down the road.

Incidentally, if you offer more than three choices, you'll find that around 25% of buying prospects pick each of the ones on the ends... but conversion declines. Some portion of your prospects will be unwilling to pick either the lowest or highest price option, and yet also be unable to decide which of the middle options they should buy - so they don't buy any of them.

And would it be fiddly to integrate the $7, $17, $27 product Subscribers/prospects into each different aweber list? (or is this easy to do using RAP, with some form you fill in to make it simple ?)
With RAP, you would create each level of your product as a different product. Each of those would subscribe to a different AWeber list. In the "automation" settings for each list, you simply add the rule to subscribe them to your single common list as well.

All your "added help" followups go to the single common list, and then on the day you want your upsell to go out, you add a single followup to each of the individual product lists and don't send an email from the common list on that day.

So your common list would send (say) six followups at 0, 2, 2, 3, 2, and 2 days from one another. This sends a followup on each of days 0, 2, 4, 7, 9, and 11. Then on each of your five individual product lists, you put a single followup for day 14 that offers your upsell.

I've tested the seventh-email upsell, and it does in fact convert at around 10% for my stuff.

      a) one of the commonest ways to structure it all? (that the majority of marketers are doing ? compared to the many options)

      b) one of the easist ways to structure it all? (compared to the many options)

        They're all pretty arbitrary.

Some people would try to sell the $47 one and then do four downsells to $37, $27, $17, and $7 in an exit popup.

Some would go the other way, and do a $7 offer with four upsells on the way to the payment page.

Some would split the difference, giving the $27 offer with two upsells and two downsells.

And some would do a hybrid model, offering the $17, $27, and $37 versions on the sales page with a downsell to $7 in an exit popup and an upsell to $47 in the OTO.

If you really think about it, and you really consider all the options, there are an awful lot of ways to structure this. And that's just working on price; if you have another product, you could downsell in your exit popup by simply offering the other product as a bonus. "Wait! Don't want my awesome product? What if I give you my other awesome product, too? NOW do you want it?"

There are just so many options. Hell, offer everyone who buys your product an hour's free phone consultation, and most of them will never take you up on it. I got a downsell once for 30 days of free coaching... it convinced me to buy, but I never applied for the coaching. I kept saying "I'll do it later," and now I don't even care. I got my money's worth out of the product as it was, and I don't really know what I'd do with 30 days of coaching in it now anyway.

The only way to know what really works best is to split-test with your product and your traffic. What works best for one person may not work well at all with another.

Have to be? No, but it would seem to make the most sense.

No, RAP is designed for multiple products on the same domain. You install it once for the admin area then upload a new folder of templates for each product.
