Free Wordtracker Tool Showing Daily or Monthly Numbers?

Hello,

I need someone to confirm on this...

If we go to Free keyword suggestion tool for SEO, Adwords & blogging and check for any keyword, the search numbers given are based on monthly or daily?

Thanks

It's actually neither. It's annual. But it's important to remember that WordTracker's numbers represent only about 1% of all searches done across all search engines.

I think it's daily it's pretty much the same as the seobook tool

        Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool

and if It remember correctly it compiles 90 days data from the different meta searchengines. But I could be wrong I haven't subscribed for a while.

This is from Mal at WordTracker support (emphasis mine):

In terms of translating the numbers from different tools - the free keywords tool did indeed at one point report a daily predict figure, but now it's more in line with the paid tool - the search counts are from the past 365 days. You're absolutely spot on with your 'takeaway' of 'all numbers are relative' - and that's how we recommend people use the tools.

Are you sure he didn't misunderstand the question and meant the data is compiled annually (used to be 90 days). 11,000 searches annually for the term "weight loss" is extremely low. Several pages I have for some non-competitive terms suggests it's a daily and not annual figure. The seobook tool is daily and the numbers are close to WT. Or that means I've been researching wrong all this time

I don't think so. Here's a blog post he wrote about it: Wordtracker Free Keywords Tool Change in Search Count

Yeah it does sound like it's an annual figure, but:

The search counts in the free tool (like the subscription version) now represent just under 1% of US search for the past 365 days.

                Translates to daily numbers.

                And it also mentions:

2 - Compare the results with other keyword tools (although if you're using the ones at SEOBook or Digital Point, it's the same data as they use Wordtracker's database).

This lost some translation from my head to my keyboard but the data that they compile is annually now, but it's used to show the daily average of the past 12 months. I could be wrong, but anyone in the weight loss niche will tell you 11,000 is not annually.

You are correct, the number of searches in Wordtracker is not tied to a daily search average at all.

Based on the "comment conversation" I had with Mal from Wordtracker on this (Cindy was kind enough to provide a link to the post and comments I'm referring to above: "Blazing Keywords List"), the numbers are meant to viewed "relative" to one another within a given niche.

In other words, a search number of "350" is "better" (more heavily searched) than one that has "35."

Of course, you need to also look at the competitive information - particularly KEI3 - to help decide which terms within your niche are best to target based on both search volume and level of competition.

Note: You can't compare the number of searches between niches because they aren't all equally represented among the 1% of search data collected by Wordtracker.
