eBook Submissions & Backlinks

If you submit eBooks to eBook directories, does Google index the text of the eBook, including backlinks within the text? Or to put my question another way: If you were to create eBooks and include hyperlinks back to your website within the body text, using your important keywords as the anchor text, would doing so have any SEO value?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes. So long as the file isn't password protected.

Google also checks the properties of files, in particular Word documents.. If I'm uploading a doc to the net I always take time to fill in all the fields within the properties section including the keyword tags.

It doesnt play a big role in rankings but every little step combined makes a big difference!
