My first two experiences with fiverr have been awful. I contacted a seller one day last week about a getting a logo made, she said she would have the logo within three hours so I paid for it. A day and a half later she canceled the order and said she's too busy to do it. Then I contacted somebody else who said he could make me a logo within 24 hours, so I paid him with my fiverr balance and 24 hours later I get the notice that the order has been completed, but I have no logo and the seller won't reply to my emails. I wrote to fiverr about getting my money back.
If its too much work to create a logo for $5 then they should not be offering to do so and they should not be telling me they can complete a logo within a certain amount of time.
After this aggravation I am going to create my own logo.......

As a buyer, I've had similar experiences. The problem with fiverr is that it devalues work so much that people don't care whether they get the gig or not.

As a seller, I'm amazed at what people want for $5...seriously. I have no problems canceling an order if someone annoys me or asks for more than they are paying for. It doesn't sound like that's you in this case though.

If you don't mark the order as complete, you should have the option to cancel and get your money back.

I've had exactly the same experience with logos on fiverr. Its a waste of their time and yours.

It's pretty hit and miss but you can find some winners for certain types of jobs.

If you're after a logo, check out logonerds.com

They do a stunning job and its pretty cheap (30 bucks I think)

Toby do you think $30 is cheap when comparing to fiverr... 6 times less ...
      sure you are rich men

If the logo are super quality and stunning, yes I agree with you and I can see it cheap with 30 bucks...

I have had a few cancelations too. THis happens with all outsourcing sites. I had someone cancel a $150 job on vworker this weekend.

It's not fiverr that is unreliable it's flaky outsourcers

There's a significant difference between a Fiverr cancellation and a vWorker cancellation. According to Fiverr's TOS, "A Seller may cancel an order at any given moment." At vWorker, a seller can cancel within a 24 hour window only. After that time has passed, the seller is obligated to fulfill a contract.

Expecting a logo for $5 is expecting a lot, but when I see so many offering that service on fiverr I expect the person to deliver or not take my money. In this case I contacted both sellers who promised a certain delivery time and failed to deliver.

I totally agree, and there are many providers on Fiverr that are also offering complete graphic headers as well. It's almost as if they're trying to one-up each other, and though I've never personally ordered services on Fiverr I'm thinking that the end result of many of these gigs is either a shoddy or incomplete job!

Typically, people will use Fiverr when they cannot do the job themselves and that's what it's best for, outsourcing work which you cannot do on your own. If you are able to create your own graphics and logos on your own to your satisfaction, then you are better off as you know what quality you want in the finished product. Some people are not fortunate enough to even be able to produce a passable logo on their own, for them, Fiverr or any other site that offers services might be an option.

I've used Fiverr twice with good results, I bought from sellers with some good feedback, but I'd never use it for anything important, I guess its a whole load of random people offering random things, you maybe lucky or maybe not. In my case I thought for $5 it was worth taking a chance, no major loss if it goes wrong.

I had a fantastic first experience on Fiverr. I had a header created, and it was done in less than 24 hours. He had a lot of feedback, so I felt like I was choosing someone who would deliver.

Fiverr is awesome however limited in the price. Not every thing can come in $5. It is said that what you pay is what you get. Also i have realized that due to immense sellers there its way difficult to get any views to the gigs.

Instead of relying on fiverr for something that you need, you should use fiverr instead as a kind of fishing hole. I like to buy up jobs that I know I'll use more of in the future. Then if I find a good outsourcer, I get their contact info, and hold on to them. And if I hit a few bad sellers along the way, I chalk it up to lost bait. It's well worth losing a few 5 spots to find a good outsourcer.

I've had a lot of success with Fiverr, BUT, there are many things I would not attempt to buy on there.

Logos (good ones) actually require some art and graphics skill, some understanding of composition and color. ...and commercial creativity. Unfortunately, I would not expect to get these for $5 (and the seller only receiving $4 net!)

For $5 a designer can probably open some PLR image in CS and make a cheap logo or header in about 20 seconds.

You will get what you pay for.

In the case of the OP, the seller probably just didn't have anything ready made - and passed on the contract.

Exactly, experts can do some jobs in a fraction of the time that an average person would take, and in this case if the designer can do the job in 20 seconds then $4 is very lucrative compensation indeed for him/her!

Some cancellations and also some completed work.

But I did not have to pay for the canceled jobs. I understood that our money was held in our fiverr account until the job was completed and we marked it as complete.

It is bad if they can take the money and not do the job!

In Fiverr, you can find a lot of crappy services for 5$ but you may also find good services too for 5$..Always check on the positive(and negative) reviews before deciding in buying any gig.

I had some awful experience too from crappy sellers. That just took the 5$ in their balance and did nothing essential at the end.We shouldn't though say - "ok, doesn't mind it was just 5$".

        Not worth the hassle.

Some people claim to have made some money there doing arbitrage, where you get tasks and have people do them for less. I guess you have to get lucky.

I ended up practically working for free on there on one occasion. I didn't know better, and the guy said he will pay me more and the $5 was a deposit.

I hated when people would take a gig and ask for HOURS of work. I offered light programming (quick fix) and someone asked me to write a Wordpress plugin with about 10 features for $3.92(what is actually paid to you). There was no pre-gig communication either. They ended up giving me bad feedback when I didn't deliver. I just laughed.

Also, people advertise they will do 2 hours of programming work for $5, then people expect professionals to work for that amount of money. I know people are always looking for discount services, but it is hurting skilled people in the long run.

Fiverr should be no more than five minutes of work. Attaching a document or report and emailing it is about as much as you should do.

I have just joined fiverr a few weeks ago and have had some fantastic $5 projects completed for me which goes to show there are honest, skilled and reliable people on their offering their services but of course you always get a few who don't deliver.

I wouldn't give up on the service as it can be great for getting little jobs doen quickly and cheaply. Great example, I had some malicious code on 9 of my wordpress blogs which were making them slow and shifting the text left to right. I actually have no idea about CSS coding and spent over 2 days trying to track the code and remove it until I found someone on Fivver who specialises in CSS code and I paid him $5 and he removed all the malicious code from all my websites and even repaired my facebook sharing code that I didn't even know was broken! He went above and beyond on this occasion.

So it just goes to show you can find some quality people with great skills that can do those little nitty gritty jobs you don't want to do or can't do yourself.

Just remember if it's a job for $5 only then make sure the price matches the job and by that I mean if someone is offering to build you 100 websites for $5 then I would be suspicious and wouldn't expect them to deliver but if someone is offering to fix something on your website or perhaps write some articles then that would seem a good deal for both parties so I think common sense should come into play when using cheap outsourcing sites like this. i hope this helps.

    Steve.

When people are selling on Fiverr, often they will put a gig up to do something when they really need cash and, usually because they are not visiting the site regularly, forget about it. Then, guess what happens...yes, when they are busy and snowed under with work, that gig pops up to haunt them. lol.

It has happened to me in both directions before now, as a buyer and a seller.

The lesson for Fiverr sellers? Keep on top of your gigs. Delete/suspend whatever you don't have time to do right now. Stay professional and you will prosper.

The lesson for Fiverr buyers? If the seller doesn't deliver get your money back and move on. Life is too short to get bent out of shape over it.

Sincerely i Believe $5 for a Logo there is always a catch, if the logo is customized (and they should be) the designer will take at least 2-3 hours to have a reasonable draft of your logo.... now put yourself in the role of that freelancer, would you work 2-3 hours for 4 bucks? probably not.

The issue about logos is that Fiverr should allow to at least top rated seller to start a GIG with more then 5 bucks.

Regarding to logos normally for 5 bucks in fiverr probably you will get:

    a) A pre-built logo
    b) The seller give you a looooooooonnggg time to deliver and add lots of extras to reduce delivery time , increase quality, increase revisions, etc... in the end will be the same price or more expensive then in usual places.

On the other hand people should expect that 5 bucks are 5 bucks, so should not expect what some sell for hundreds or thousands...

There are a lot of great services on Fiverr, but you need to know how to choose the right one. While the person did agree to do your logo, any "real" logo creation will take more than a mere day. Well, for anything that is actually worth paying for and is aesthetically pleasing.

I always make sure that the seller has a good reputation and always check for the most recent negative ratings. Oftentimes, a person will start off with great ratings and eventually neglect their gig.

steve-wilkins made a good point here. Research a little (reviews, negatives, time, communication, etc) before order, even send a message (time, revisions, etc.). It takes time to save time You can start research from a different angle, 5$ is not much for US, but for a designer from a developing country, means a living so he must provide quality.

I dare say I'm a fiverr expert. I sell about $50 worth of gigs per month there and I probably by $200 worth of gigs per month there.

What you have to understand about Fiverr is that you can get awesome deals...often for more than $5. To use your example of a logo...a good logo company would charge you a MINIMUM of $500. So on Fiverr you might have to try our 3, 4, or 5 gigs before you get your logo right...but for $25 how can you complain? I did this, spent $20, found the guy that did it right and now I've used that one guy 6 or 7 times...each time spending only $5 or $10 bucks...

When it comes to web traffic and backlinks and stuff you really have to do your research and ask questions to make sure the gig is keeping up with the latest Google changes and won't end up hurting you...but again, you email 4 or 5 guys to figure out which one is doing it the right way...and BAM...you're golden.

You really can't beat Fiverr if you know how to use it. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Try eLance or oDesk. You can still get a low price (not as cheap as $5), and freelancers will bid on your project instead of you having to find people to do it.

Yeah exactly, any freelancer or microtransaction site can be hit or miss at times. Fiverr is still a great place to go cheap especially when you find those hidden gems.

I'm sure your experience will vary depending on what seller you work with on Fiverr. Was this seller highly rated, such as he had received many positive reviews by buyers? If so, then there's no reason he should be taking the money and not delivering the work. You can get your money back.

I can see why it would be tempting to get someone else to do graphics work, especially at such a cheap price and even more frustrating when they can't deliver. Hopefully your future experiences with Fiverr won't be so disappointing.

Fiverr has a good rating system, and you can read feedback from previous clients. Sometimes, the good ones might be overloaded with work. Check how many "orders in queue" they have. You need to spend some time to short-list the best sellers, but there indeed are really good sellers out there.

I have worked fiverr in many days. I think Fiverr customer support are really friendly. They did help me another issue. So i think if you contact customer support then you can get you money back. But very important to contact with seller.

    Hello All,

I've used Fiverr a hand full or times. I've had two major issues with them. The first is buying Facebook likes, and the second is the quality of content. The first problem may be in itself a negative way to garner interest from the public. However, they promise likes that do no stay and are all from Turkey. No where in the description does it say the likes will fade away or that the likes are from Turkey. In fact the narrator states that the likes are from American sources.

Second, I had content written from a supposedly high quality Fiverr source, But, again I was let down. the content was of poor quality and both of the Fiverr contestants never responded to my requests.

These two reasons have driven me away from using Fiverr anymore.

Fiverr is a veritable pick n mix. You get some terrible providers and some gems too, to be fair.

But at the end of the day...you're paying five bucks. What was that phrase again? "ya pay peanuts, ya get monkeys!"

Just make sure your monkey has good feedback and you might be pleasantly surprised. Maybe...!

I check the reviews, response time, and turnaround time before ordering. For the most part, I have been lucky.

I also contact them before ordering to make sure they understand what I need.

99 designs is a great place for logos, and also try crowd spring. There is a big push for crowd sourcing. $5 is not a lot of money. Also, FIVERR only sends $3.92 to your pay pal account after a 20 day hold period which is too long, but what can we say.

Actually, my favorite is hatch wise. They got a $39 logo design contest now.

I'm sorry to hear that you've got bad experience in fiverr. Hopefully, your problem will be resolved ASAP. Just trying give bad feedback to the seller who didn't delivery the product as their promises after they get 5 buck. And report the seller to fiverr.

Take a look in warrior for hire section, freelancers, odesk, or another freelancer sites and find the guys who will make logo for you with the quality and reliable price.

Then I contacted somebody else who said he could make me a logo within 24 hours, so I paid him with my fiverr balance and 24 hours later I get the notice that the order has been completed, but I have no logo and the seller won't reply to my emails. If its too much work to create a logo for $5 then they should not be offering to do so and they should not be telling me they can complete a logo within a certain amount of time.
After this aggravation I am going to create my own logo.......

Fiverr is full of spam now. I'd prefer freelancer websites any day.
