Google results question.

What does this mean.
You type a keyword into Google in quotes and it says there are X number of results. (The X being a big number).
But then when you click at the bottom on the next pages (you click the last page), it only shows a very small number of results.

Does this mean that in truth the keyword you initially entered is only showing exactly for the small number of results, and not the big number.

Then why does Google first show a big number? Who are they trying to impress

    Sometimes they say something like "similar results have not been shown". I don't know if that is the full answer though.

    I've seen this before. Sometimes it will say there's 3000 sites, then you click on page 2 and theres 46 sites! Very strange - but then this is google!

    So it appears that the TRUE number is actually the smaller number...
