I'm lost.. please help

Hi. I've been lurking here a while. I haven't read much of the forums but I have done searches every once in a while to look for specific info. I had a few friends who were really successful with IM and knew so much that if I ever had a question to ask, they'd be able to answer. I'm out of touch with about five of them and I've had a serious falling out with the last three.

My situation is quite unique and I really don't want to go into it. Suffice it to say, I guess I'm the very definition of a bum. So as you might imagine, when friends told me about IM and bum marketing at the end of 2008, it was seriously appealing to me. I became a Clickbank affiliate and made a few blogs. I spent months building up each with articles and such, but it turns out that two of the niches I was working on don't work very well with my limited resources. It took half a year for me to realize that. The moment I realized that, I gave up and thought that maybe it wasn't for me. But just a few days ago I decided to check my Clickbank account. Apparently the third blog, the one about hemorrhoids that I didn't really spend much time on, has generated a few sales I had no clue about. Now I've been thinking that I need to give that third niche a try again since it seems to be suitable to my needs. And that's where the problem starts.

I've forgotten 80% of what I was taught. RSS feeds, what are those? Backlinks, where do I get them from? Where to get traffic? SEO?? None of that's coming to mind. I've completely lost my senses for this kind of thing. I remember that I would write up articles for EZA every day, but I've heard they're way worse than ever before for traffic now. One thing I did remember though is that you should buy traffic once you've gotten some consistent sales.

My current goal is to make at least $60 a day. I remember hearing in the past that $100 a day is simple enough to achieve with work but I don't even care about that right now; after I work through the first goal then I'll take a look at the next. From what I've been reading though, you pretty much have to spend money to make money. People here are giving way some secrets pretty freely, but they take some cash to implement. I only have about $100 in the bank, and that number won't go up by a cent anytime soon unless these sales go up. I'm thinking a good move would be to scrounge together any cash I can find and spend it all on something that will drive traffic to my blog, but I'm not too sure about that.

The reason I'm making this thread is because I'm looking for any kind of help I can get. I really want to get my sense for IM back. I want to learn how I can quickly pull some traffic to my blog, especially if that traffic ends up paying for itself. Mostly though, I want to learn what I can do to increase my sales. Absolutely any help is appreciated here guys.. I have plenty of time, but that doesn't mean I'm not dangerously close to ending up on the streets for good. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I have to side with Paul on this one based on what you said about not remembering much about the IM world. There are plenty of folks here that are still struggling to make $100 a day and that's after months and months of time and effort stuck into this thing.

If you're looking for immediate income, affiliate marketing is definitely not the answer. It takes time to get sales, and then it takes time to get paid. For example, Amazon pays you two months after the month in which you generate sales. So even if you were to generate September/October sales, you wouldn't get paid for them until November/December.

Dude just read my thread I made a few minutes ago.

Those blogs you made are $$$$ money $$$$ in your hand right now if you still have them.

Build, promote, sell, outsource. You have not failed at all.

    YOU HAVE NOT FAILED.

Here's my experience in a nutshell - it will give you some perspective. I spent several months launching a successful offline product - The Wedding MC Jokebook, online. I have been online with it for 2 years and have sold many. In the last 14 days I had one $75.00 day and a $63. And I own the product. I give 65% commission to affiliates. My three main affiliates do well...once in a while they make $100.00 a day.

I know many people on this forum make much more money, but don't be mislead and think that $100.00 a day is a piece of cake. $3K a month is a good wage and it takes work, luck and skill.

Ever term you say you've forgotten - can be found with free tutorials and explanations with a google search. Many of them are explained well here and there is a search button to use for that, too.

I think you are right to start with the niche that worked but don't expect miracles - and don't give up again the moment you hit a snag.

Go for it - what do you have to lose? (but don't buy anything unless you pay $12 or so for a domain name and hosdting.

    Hi Kitfox,
I used to be in your shoes for the past 3 years. I have tried writing in WF, asking for help but to no avail there is not a single genuine person that can help me get started.

And I began buying WSOs, one after another. This is a stage whereby most people faced when they are starting out.

I spent 3 years learning and 2 months implementing.

The 2 months while implementing, I have a mentor who help me and guide me.

Of course, there is no free lunch in this world.

Don't expect people to help you for free.

Before I signed up to my mentor mentoring program, I bought his products
in the past and he provide excellent customer support.

And when I need testimonials for my WSOs, he gladly write one for me.

He is very responsive in replying to emails too.

I was on his subscriber list and one day, I received an email from him
that he and his partner going to open a mentoring program.

I ask lots of questions and finally paid the course and watch all
    the webinars.

And he helped me with my marketing system and list building.

After 2 months, I make $757.56 for the past 4 weeks.

    Here's my Clickbank Screenshot:

This shows how important to start implementing a system with someone who is successful to help you.

    Hope it helps,
    Winson

Find a job somewhere, offline or online to get you some start up capital. It takes money to make money, I know you've heard more than enough. But it's true nonetheless.

So take some of that time during the day and put it towards dollars.

Then when you've got about $2k saved, you can put it towards your own website.

It depends on what keeps you off the street. If thats $1800 a month, then you can get a part time job and make that - or go to craigslist and find gigs and make that... and then work on IM at night. As for your questions, there are lots of posts here about free traffic... Incuding one that Travis Petelle (petelta) did recently called the 28 day traffic plan or something like that... it is all free and will bring you traffic. But its a lot of work.

First thing kitfox I am willing to say the blogs you have set up are free blogs. It does take some money to make money but not like you are thinking. Yes you can spend money on traffic but is that traffic going to be lasser targeted traffic willing to spend money just because. However you can get all the traffic you need for free if things are done right.

If your are using a free bloging platform like blogger or wordpress you are seriously limited to the things you can do. For you can not add content with links to affiliate products. Atleast not with googles blogger. If you are lucky you can put one link to anything on the entire blog before they completely shut down your google account.

So where it is going to cost you money to make money is to get your own website. Host your own blog and put the time into building traffic to your site not someone elses. Nothing has changed with im since 2008 write articles first to your blog then to article directories like eza. Use social bookmarking sites or use a free tool to submit to several like onlywire. Create videos and submit with tube mongul or traffic gyser. Submit your rss feed from both your eza articles and your own blog. Make comments on other blogs. The list goes on and on but those are the easiest to get you started.

Really? Hmm . . that's interesting. I have about 12 or 15 blogs on Blogger from 3 or 4 years ago when I first began marketing online and some are filled with affiliate links - and still making the occasional sale. I've not heard that one before, and I see plenty of Blogger blogs every day marketing affiliate products!

Anyone else know if this is true? I know Blogger will quickly shut down a blog for no good reason on occasion, but I've never heard that you cannot link to affiliate products. Learn something new every day!

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but I'd highly recommend you stop screwing around with bum marketing right now! It sounds like you're in a pretty desperate situation financially, and are about to be evicted from your place of abode.

Stop having pie in the sky dreams, right now you need money to survive on! What I'd suggest doing right away is offering services - writing articles, press releases, and any and all IM skills that you possess!! Do not think doing this or that is below you, right now your situation is dire. Dig your head out of the sand and get real here - you have $100 in the bank and you're still dreaming about making affiliate commissions?? Do you have any idea how long it takes for you to receive your commission checks in the mail? You could get lucky and earn hundreds of dollars in commissions TODAY, and you could be out on the streets by the time the check arrives, so what good would that do you?

Hi, kitfox here again. I would like to clarify one thing. I'm not looking for "fast income", nor am I looking for handouts or for someone to do my own work for me. I understand that it takes time to work. EZA alone at one point made me wait half a month before an article was accepted. However I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that it would create future stability if I worked on it. There is no "end of the year" deadline, but I do need to start doing something.

Thanks for the help everyone. I've got a lot of different suggestions to run through here. For instance, I didn't realize it but I had subconsciously given up on the option of building up capital. Then again I wasn't even too sure of what ways I could do that. Where could I go to offer services for writing articles?

I have spent the last month reading, analyzing, and trying to absorb thousands of posts on WF, both current and within the past six months. Approximately 100 pages of threads. It was overwhelming at first, but playing catch-up is always difficult.

I also purchased three or four WSOs that I felt applied to the traffic generation methods I am targetting.

But what I've learned now is that WSOs are counterproductive to the process, and that true "gurus" can be found everywhere on this wonderful board...for free.

I've bookmarked, noted, and written down dozens of tips, guides, multi-step formulas, etc, all from free WF posts in this section.

The bottom line is that the WSOs are a nice finisnhing touch, the icing on the cake, but they are NOT the meal. The meal is in the massive information database that is this free forum.

When I log in and see that say 500 people are viewing this area of the board, while 1000 are viewing the WSO section, it tells me everything I need to know...

Please don't mistake my post for hating on the WSO providers, that is not my intent. I was very happy with the ones I've purchased, and would never request a refund on any. But the true foundational knowledge I've gained has come from simply reading and reading and reading, over and over, until I felt confident in the knowledge I gained.

When you get depressed, read. Then take action and work. That's the key. You can do this!

The only place to make good money on the internet without a lot of experience is eBay. Some say Amazon as well. That's because they have their own built in traffic. You don't have to agonize day in and day out over how you're going to get traffic to your product. Ebay was better years ago but there's still money to be made. I'm trying to figure out a way to sell my product outside of eBay and so far haven't made a dime. On eBay I can make upwards of $3,000. per month and sometimes closer to $8,000. But eBayers are bargain hunters and I want market value or something close to it. So I continue to slog away. Before the financial crisis, $20,000. months for me on eBay were not uncommon - rarely less than 10k. Leaving eBay is scary because you're on your own in trying to figure out all of this crazy stuff from backlinks to butt links to pee pee see and wee wee wee all the way to the poor house. I suggest you check your local Craigslist for some free stuff, turn around and sell it on eBay for a nice profit - while you're looking for a job as others have suggested.

Go right here to offer services! Advertise them in your sig, build a simple little portfolio site with Blogger, and when you get the cash, start a Warrior for Hire thread. Give away several review articles and some discounted orders at first and you'll build some steady business. I can tell from your posts that you could do all right as an article writer.
