Copying Ezine Articles.

I've recently found one of my ezine articles has been copied onto a personalised/retail website, it doesn't contain any of my credits or links and has been edited very slightly, its about 99% of the original article.
I Just wondered if this is allowed, I'm not interested in a protracted argument, and I would have been happy to have any articles reproduced if they contained my link or credits.
I Just wondered what was the deal when this kind of thing happens.
Thanks for your help.

Start by contacting them and asking them to take it down nicely referencing the DMCA. This usually works.

It is interesting what you sometimes find when you take a paragraph of your article and put it into Google. Amazing what pops up. I do that every now and again

Yes, I was more surprised than anything else, especially when I noticed someone else had claimed to be the author, but I guess it happens all the time.
I just wondered what the general rules were regarding articles and copyright.

I would try and contact the webmaster of the site that has your content posted and request that they remove it. This works more often than not.

That's a huge and very different question from your original one. (I'm "just saying"!).

But it's perfectly clear, in this specific instance, that your copyright has been violated, and (at least in theory) you have legal remedies available.

It may well be, as suggested above, that initially a polite but firm email requesting the addition of your resource-box but alluding to the possibility of a DMCA notice with copies to his ISP, host and Google, is the way forward.

(I'm not a lawyer, nor even willing to play one on TV - but will consider judicial roles for an appropriate fee).

I've had whole catalogues of products (t-shirt designs) ripped off by numerous websites. All I get when i contact them is no response, and I have no time to visit them in person to let them know my thoughts & feelings on the subject!
