Is There a Way to Track Selfhosted Wordpress Blog?

Google Analytics is great choice you just put a small snippet of code into the header of
your blog which you can locate under the appearance editor if you are using wordpress.

Also if your using wordpress there is a handy little plug-in called Google Analyticator

Ultimate Google Analytics

No need to insert code, just insert your analytics id

Don't forget to look at your web site server stats.

The package you have will depend on what your hosting company offers.

For instance, Hostgator offers AWstats. It can be found on your cPanel.

The server stats provide some different information then GA does... It can be quite useful to monitor both. ;-)

Is Awstats working for you? It stopped working for me about a year ago all over my sites...

webalizer does the trick and it is also provided by cpanel, but it is not so nice...

besides what has been said... another alternative is piwik:

Piwik - Web analytics - Open source

it is an open source analytics soft similar to google analytics. It is self hosted, so you have more control.

Google stuff is great, but you have to be very conservative in terms of traffic research with any website to put up there.

Hi Sandra -

Yes, it seems to be working for me. ;-)

I use Hostgator for all but one of my sites and have had no problem.

I FINALLY installed AWStatsViewmatic on most of my sites (I'm working on getting it onto all of them) and it makes checking the stats waaaay easier and faster to check them!

I use Piwik too, because I don´t want to share my stats with third parties like google. Piwik is great, check it out.

  I like StatPress Reloaded, I use it on all of my blogs.
  
  Its a free plugin you can download from Wordpress so there is no need to cut and paste code, just upload and activate. It doesn't provide as much data as Google Analytics, though.

You can also run with the folks over at Yahoo!.

Thy have "Yahoo! Web Analytics", which can also be run in wordpress.

There is a plugin for it, but I have no idea how well it works because I use Google Analytics.

I am a Google Analytics fan and have been using it for years. I tried a wordpress stats counter once but it did not give me as much info but I see that other people are getting good results from other stats counters. Just had a look at PIWIK and it looks good. Thanks for sharing.
