Ecommerce/Wanted Ad - Advice

Hello

I have never seen any website that would have an ecommerce site and on the same domain another script for example: wanted ad or craigslist type of thing. Does anyone know why would you not want to have 2 scripts on the same domain with 2 different databases of course. It seems to me when you promote it, it would be much easier as you are getting targeting traffic killing 2 birds with one stone.

Of course scripts would be in related niches that visitor could benefit.

Any thoughts on that, maybe some of you though of doing that what stooped you?

Thank you

I am not quite understand. Why we need two different databases for different group of people and then for targeted advertising? Could you explain more?

No reason not to if your website plans require it. You will certainly want to separate the apps into separate folders (one can be a root application, the other can be a secondary folder).
For instance: Let's say blog + ads + ecommerce:
Your root site at domain.com loads your wordpress blog. You have links in your nav menu that say "Classified Ads" or "Shop with us" and each goes to domain.com/classifieds and domain.com/shopandsave , respectively (foldernames your choice, of course).
And that's 3 apps, 3 different DB's, 1 website (but alot to manage lol)

The reason for having ecommerce site and another script (will give example below) is to take advantage of the traffic. For example lets say I will have ecommerce site selling dog products in general, now as a sub domain for exampled www......com/list
I would install craigslist srcipt (hypothetically)where users could post their used products for sale and maybe charge per posting. So I am driving targeted traffic to my dog website and at the same time I can offer them a service where they can post their dog items they aren't using or which they want update. So possibly I can sell them something and make money and also make money per posting their products. Does that make sense? I can advertise the script as banner on the ecommerce site etc.

The reason why I am asking is I have not seen anything like that done anywhere so I am curious if there is legitimate reason for it? Complications etc.

    Thanks
