Hi,

I just received an e-mail that says it was sent by my own e-mail, and I clearly don't remember sending an e-mail to myself. The title of the e-mail says "We have all your personal info", and in the e-mail are advertisements of sexual enhancement pills. I used AVG anti-virus, and have not found a virus anywhere on my computer.

I have lots of important business files and software on this computer. I don't want to reboot it, but I really don't want the hacker to mess up any of my businesses in any way. Has anybody experienced anything like this before? Is this anything to worry about? I know e-mails are easily hacked. Is there anyway to check if the rest of my computer got hacked? Please advise me on what to do about this situation.

Kind regards,
Davin

    Hi Davin,

This is *probably* nothing to worry about. Naturally I'm only guessing, as I haven't seen your computer.

But these kinds of emails are common spam.

The title of the email is just to scare you into opening the email. The body of the email is designed to sell you pills. Why anyone would think this combination would work is beyond me, but oh well.

The sender being yourself is also normal. This doesn't nessessarily mean they broke into your account, it's just that the spammers set the sender email as your own email address. It's not hard to do, and they don't actually need access to your email to do this.

    I hope this helps!

    cheers
    Sam
