Time Management to Increase Productivity

Hey everyone,

I have been using a news system for my time management and it has increased my productivity immeasurably!

Just a few simple steps and I have got so much more done on my business in a lot less time!

Have a look and see what you think. Nothing to sell here just how I manage my time effectively for my business.

Thanks

Simon

    What is your new system?

I use the tasks and calendar that comes with the Windoze Outlook email program. Not the best, but it can help me remember what I need to get done (plan weeks ahead).

I mainly just try to keep busy all the time.

When I look at time management I understand it is important. You don't want to over work yourself than become over stressed then ending up giving up. All that hard work will be a waste. I try to plan my week ahead write down what a need to work on for the week. Might be a calender, notepad, excel etc whatever you feel like using. When I get done with the task I check it off move to a new one.

  • Planning has been so key for me in the past few months, without it I would be lost again and I would be lagging way further back from where I am now. I have been there in the past trying to do 1001 things with no planning and flitting from one task to another, never getting anything done!

rdkelsey: I have described my system on my blog, it's easier for you to read it there than for me to type it out here and forget certain parts!

One program that is bound to increase your productivity several folds is Wakeup Productive from Eben Pagan. It does cost alot of money.

Another terrific book/program is the Pomodoro Technique. It has a paper back edition and a free ebook edition here The Pomodoro Technique

You know I liked your idea of actually writing what you are going to get done over the next hour. I don't know why I'd never thought of that before.

One comment: one thing that has really helped me a lot is automating my tasks. I use autohotkeys, VBA (in Excel) and other things that allow me to do things in a fraction of the time I used to do it before.

This is key in my mind, because on my site I mostly need to write and post good quality content. To do that, I have to automate the marketing as much as possible.

      Good post - thx...

It's always up to you man. These courses are for those who either have never heard of such a fascinating TERM or are not self disciplined!!!

Over the period of time, the same root method has been modified and reproduced as a new method to Time Management.

In my personal opinion, I'd honestly recommend to read only one book, "Think and Grow Rich" by Nappo Hill. That would suffice everything, including Time Management.

  • Sax, that book pretty much changed my life!!! I think it should be on the curriculum in every school on the planet!!! So much valuable information in there.

  • I don't use any scripts or programs, just good old fashioned pen and paper! Taking it oldskool!

It also helps you concentrate more as I have found having to do lists on my computer make me less likely to complete them. Having them written down and folded up in my pocket all day long I can always review what I need to do for the day wherever I am!

Interesting Simon! Some good tips. I think it is very important to write down tasks at hand the night before. That way you have a head start.

My best productivity tip has always been to limit the amount of time you have to work. Then you don't have time to procrastinate! Set work hours, make them short, and stick to them.

    Cheers,
    Stephen
