How a List of 71 People - Pulled In $2072 - In 24 Hours Flat...

I typically never post long winded tutorials of my successful marketing experiments here on the warrior forum, so I felt it was time. Keep in mind the method I am about to reveal to you was done in a sub niche and had nothing to do with internet marketing or make money online...

Two weeks ago I fired my payment processor for harassing three customers, accusing them of being frauds - NOT professional at all and not the first time this had happened.

Right away I shut off all PPC traffic from adwords, facebook and some smaller advertising companies. I however was still receiving plenty of organic traffic I did not want to go to waist...

I created an "order.html" page all my "Add To Cart" buttons now would lead to. On the left side of the page I had text like this:

=================================================

"Thank you for your interest in ______________! You could have not picked a better time to invest in this guide as I am launching the latest version in a week's time.
I am an honest person, so selling you my __________ guide a week before I knew the next version would be released, well... Is just not morally right to me.
Simply enter your email address to the right and the second __________ becomes available, you will be the first to know! Not only that - I will take an extra $10.00 off the price PLUS give you exclusive access a full 24 hours before anyone else."

=================================================

I then placed an email capture form on the right hand side above the fold.

So when someone visited my site from the organic search results, read my sales page and clicked my buy button - They were directed to this squeeze page!

I was essentially building a list of buyers, the best kind to have in a list!

They then would receive a single auto responder message with the classic Frank Kern subject line "Bad News..." and I would go on in the email saying how the bad news was the latest version was not done yet... But the good news is they are getting it first and saving an extra $10 off the price. I made sure to say in the email "keep your eyes peeled in the coming week for an email from me when it is ready" (I won't post the email copy here so this post won't break a world record for length lol)

And that was it, no more follow ups!

I spent the week working directly with my new merchant company designing and testing order page designs, plus made some tweaks to my actual product as promised.
Over the week I collected a respectable 71 leads into a "waiting list" all ready to buy. I then broadcasted an email to them saying how the next version is up, and as promised here is a link to receive an additional $10.00 off. I included scarcity in the email telling them it would only be "live" for a few more hours. Reinstated my money back guarantee and how using my product works out to cost nothing because it saves them money.

I then clicked send!

Within the first 30 minutes after sending I instantly made 5 sales. This was normally a $47 product I was now selling for $37 to my waiting list. After 24 hours had passed I made a total of 56 sales and this was from a list of only 71 people interested in buying.

The 1 email that cost me nothing, in just 24 hours made me $2072!

When I hit the 24 hour mark I sent out a second email. It was a classic marketing trick saying how some people had issues with the discount link - so here is the new link and I will extend the sale for another 24 hours to be fair. Plus it just so happens, the other day parts of Florida got hit by a pretty bad tropical storm knocking out some of their power; I used this as an excuse as well.

SO!

How can you take this advice and apply it to your business?

Well, if you do not have your product done and ready to go yet, this is a great way to see how many people are interested in it before you're completely done. Then when it comes time to sell you have a list of people who have specifically shown interest in buying.
Or in my situation, I needed to switch merchants and wanted a way to recoup any sales that would have been lost without an email capture page.

My next step?

Tomorrow I am now going to send a broadcast to the buyers list, up selling them on a personal coaching and seeing if I cannot expand on my previous success.
I hope this thread has helped and let me know if it has. I have a few more tricks I have used in the past to pull in instant cash like this I can share. So if this one goes over well I would be more willing to share freely on the warrior forum

Been a while since I posted here, but this post was pretty cool. I am surprised that you got that kind of response, must have been a hyper responsive niche! Most shopping carts have a high abandonment rate so for you to get that after a week is crazy! Good job, I love the sales copy too. Also I would love to hear about your other tricks!

    Have a great day,

    Hey darksaberco thanks for posting,

I think the reason this list was so responsive is because the not only took the action of clicking my "add to cart" button but they also took action by entering and submitting their email. So they where twice as qualified.

I also just thought of how this same method could work as a perpetual launch type funnel. I might have to go and test it.

Dereck, Thanks for sharing that. That's cool.

How would you say that compares to your "normal" conversion rate based off a "normal" marketing plan for your site?

    Hey Miles,

So far today my site received a 6% conversion rate from cold traffic. During the email promotion my conversions where wild! Assuming everyone on my list received and opened the email conversion would have been 78.9%

I'm confidant not everyone opened the email and clicked the link so the actual conversion rate was probably much higher!

Shows the power in creating responsive buyers lists thats for sure!

Very nice Derek! A lot of people would have just wasted that traffic because your merchant account was down. I think it is cool how you kept adjusting on the fly to keep them interested and thinking they were getting a great deal on a better product, when it was your merchant account that caused the whole not being able to buy to begin with.

    Nice job!

      Derek,

GREAT job in turning a negative situation into a positive one! Nice way to "think outside the box" and make your new customers that got the discount very happy! Certainly interested to see how the next email selling the personal coaching turns out, do keep us updated.

AJsVRE I will let ya know how sales turn out with the upsell to the buyers list.

Another tip I should mention is I created a special link that I sent people redirecting them to my order form (like www.example.com/discount) This way in analytics I could track everything effectively.

That rocks, Derek! I had a similar result from a tiny list I started to collect leads from a WSO I run here. It's not available all the time and so I started a simple squeeze page to collect contact info for those who were interested when I wasn't taking orders. I had all of 11 people on it and 4 of them signed up the day I opened up orders again. $508 from an 11-person list! WOO HOO!

It works to build a "buyers" list. Even when they haven't quite bought yet.
