Am I Not Supposed to Reply to Threads 30 Days Old?

I posted a few threads last month, but then had a ton of work on so didn't have time to reply to them until yesterday.

So I came back in and replied to some of them. Some were short comments, others were more lengthy.

I come back today and all my comments disappeared. I assume a mod deleted them.

Am I not supposed to reply to old threads in that way? Happy to stick to mods decisions, but just wanna clear it up so I don't cause the WF mods more work.

Did you use multi-quote or just reply to each post bumping the thread numerous times? It is usually not a good idea to ignore an active thread that you posted and come back to it a month later. It raises red flags with the mods.

I don't know what the rules are on this, but a lot (if not the vast majority) of warriors don't like old threads being bumped.

I don't like it personally, warriors who visit the forum regularly like myself usually don't want to be seeing lots of threads which were discussed over a month ago - it is kind of like having to read old news.

It doesn't make logical sense in some ways as many old threads are still great talking points and very relevant, but you have to understand the way people feel about it.

People generally don't like old news.

I think the bigger deal is when old threads get bumped without any new information.

Bumps with posts like "Cool stuff" and "Good idea" scream signature/post count spam... but when someone comes in an adds some actual value to the conversation, or presents new facts or whatever... the bump (IMO) is more than welcome.

I agree with you on that, but I do believe it is true that most warriors aren't too keen on old threads being bumped.

Most threads (that were very popular before) which are bumped, usually disappear pretty quickly.

People see the old dates, then don't get involved.

And yet.....how many times does a member post a question only to be told, "That subject has been covered before. Why are you not searching the threads?" I'm paraphrasing here, but that's the gist.

I guess one is supposed to read old threads but not post a comment on same. Hmmm.

Sounds like a better option than just creating a new one...

I'm just guessing since I didn't see any of your posts, but if you're new like you are and they see you posting a whole bunch of times at once, it may look like you're just trying to get your post count up to where you're eligible to run WSOs.

Everyone gets posts deleted at times, and the mods don't have time to send a personal message/explanation to people. Best to just let it go.

There is no post count where you're eligible to run WSOs. It's War Room membership, period.

However, there's a post count requirement to send PMs, so if you wanted to send PM spam - oops, I mean, legitimate JV requests - you might go posting rabidly all over the forum.

On the other hand, if someone like Ken can think post count will let you run a WSO... it's likely a lot of newbies might, too.

The best way I can think of to handle that is to preface things with a short explanation - "I got caught up in other projects and didn't get to reply before now, so here goes..." Couple that with putting as many replies as possible in a single update via the multi-quote function.

New members (combination of recent join date and relatively low post count) have been known to try spamming the forum by bumping a bunch of old threads. One of the mods, rumored to all be human , may have seen your updates and gone with the 'if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck, odds are it's a duck' theory and deleted the bumps.

It's not personal. Keep contributing, and people will be able to tell you from the 'ducks'...
