Do you use this url format when backlinking your articles?

If I'm backlinking an article on EZA, would I simply just use the url that appears in the address bar, like so:

Talent for Screenwriting - Do You Have It? (just a random article, not mine)

Or do I use some shorter version?

Thanks,
S.

Anchor backlinks for keywords/phrases you hope to be "found" for in article. You're linking TO that URL, not trying to rank FOR the Whole URL as the anchored KW

I think there was some confusion. I just wanted to show what the full URL looked like, but the WF seems to have automically turned it into an anchor text link.

I'm well aware of how anchor text backlinking works, but the article Url looks a bit long and awkward to me, and thus I was wondering if it needed to be shortened. Let me know if that makes more sense.

    Thanks,
    S.

I've never bothered to shorten them - that's because I don't believe it has any affect for this purpose.

Not sure what you mean by variate? Can you explain in more detail with some examples?

        Hi Buslead

Think what is meant by variate is to backlink using a variety of keywords as anchor text.

I do not agree with that. Each of my articles is built around 1 single keyword or phrase any backlinking is done use that only and to be honest I get remarkable results.

Recently took an article from page 17 to page 1 this way in a very competitive niche.

On the original question I also stick with the original URL and do not shorten it at all.

    Hey Steve,

I know what you mean. I think the long URL is ok, because you are linking OUT.

If you want to shorten it, then you can consider bit.ly

But then again, that'll only be for aesthetics reasons. Has no effect on YOUR OWN site.

    Cheers!
