Email Marketing and Nutcases

Hi everyone,

My main worry with email marketing isn't building a list etc, it's always knowing that people have my home address at my peril, now nothing has ever happened to me resulting from randoms knowing my address.

Just wanted to know if anyone with large lists or just anyone at all with a list has had people trying to visit them etc. I've heard a lot of people get threats, just wanted to hear some email marketing horror stories.

Anyone got a good one?

Thanks,
Matt

I've had people email me photos of my house (from google maps street view) claiming i was a scammer because it wasn't a business address, back when I used my home address for my email marketing campaigns.

That's when i got a UPS store box (one of the best investments ever, btw).

There are some definite loonies out there... that's for sure.

My mate has had the police called on his kids as they said he was gonna run away with them (he's divorced!). Just because he runs a paid membership site and a number of nutcases think he should run it free!!
So like others I suggest you get a mailing address.
I use My UK Mail - Your Own UK Mailing Address, Better than a PO Box! Receive all types of mail at your own UK street address. mail forwarding service, uk mail forwarding service, Your mail is forwarded on to you, international mail forwarding, internation for both my personal and business mail. Works great as all my mail gets scanned and emailed to me regardless of where I am in the world!!

The simple solution is to set up a Mailbox and use the address.

If in the UK do NOT use a P.O Box, use a Mailbox.

    Mailboxes etc are very good.

  • Yes, I would highly recommend getting a regular business address. Not only does it make you look 100% more professional, you don't have to worry about people like you just described.

Though its really rare, especially if you have a great product. Though people do get upset and they may make empty threats.

Always use a business mailing address. That being said, I have had very few
actually use my 800# or my mailing address.

Although there was that one time someone mailed me a big box which
contained their new product. They wanted me to review it! I can't
imagine incurring a mailing expense like that without getting approval
      in advance.

Personally, I use my own address, but that's a personal choice.

If in the UK do NOT use a P.O Box, use a Mailbox.
The above advice is sound, as almost anyone is entitled to contact the Post Office and gain access to your listed street address. I once looked into the service and it is (or at the time was) wholly inappropriate to the requirements posted on the thread.
