Someone has several sites. They all have the same sales letter in the same format on every site's hompage. Attached to that homepage he has blogs on every site. EACH BLOG HAS COMPLETELY UNIQUE CONTENT TO THE OTHER SITES. So the only thing that's the same on each site is the index page.

So...will there be a duplicate content penalty on any of these sites or not?

I know some people believe that the duplicate content penalty doesn't even exist but I'm still curious to see how people would respond to this one.

My understanding is that it's only duplicate content if you have the same article/content on ONE site...

      Mike,

One thing to remember is that Google doesn't rank sites, they rank pages.

Your unique pages will stand on their own when it comes to SEO.

Just keep creating good content and the rest will take care of its self.

The flip side to that equation is Google will ban entire sites, but that usually happens if they feel you are gaming the system. Play nice and you shouldn't need to worry about that.
