Help with Coveraction Pro

I have Coveraction Pro action scripts and the included templates.

All templates are large images, e.g. template book-paperback.psd
has dimensions 1353px X 1590px.

If I scale down image dimensions, the script cannot produce
the 3D image ( step2 does not work). Is that normal?

Must I always start with exact default image dimensions (e.g.
1353px X 1590px) ?

Is there a way to use Coveraction Pro scripts with different
flat image dimensions for step 1?

Don't scale down the templates. Create your graphics and run the template to generate the 3d box. When that shows up you scale that to the size you want. Not the actual template.

Does that make sense? I don't know if I explained it well.

      Thanks Thomas,

I understand what you mean, that's the normal procedure.
But sometimes I have smaller images that I want to use
and that's why I would like to be able to start with smaller
step1 flat image. I tried scaling down the flat image (step1)
and it didn't work, so I wander if it is possible to do so at all?

You wont be able to use small images and make them look good on a 300dpi 3D box. You need to start with better quality pics

        Good Luck

To add to what Darren said:

if you don't need to display the covers at full size, then smaller images will not be a problem.

If the maximum width of the covers you produce is less than say, 700px then you should be safe to use smaller source images. Just use your judgement to see if the end result looks professional.

Just use, "save for web" and do your resizing at the end.

          Kindest regards,
          Karl.

        Hi Alminc,
the answer is simply: not possible

The only way around is to enlarge the small image to fit in the "step 1" image.
but, of course, the image will be pixelated or blurred.
Sometimes using "Sharpened" effect in Photoshop could help.

I'm a graphic designer myself, so I've been there a lot of times, lol.

You might want to try CoveractionPro version 1, I think it has a smaller dimension (in the "step 1")

        Hope that helps?

        Good luck.

I am having a similar problem with cover action pro, which I have just purchased. I dont have a problem with images at 300dpi, but with the text.

I use Fireworks to create png files and then convert them to jpg when completed and ready to use. The new cover action pro templates are really large 2551 x 3300 pixels.

Fireworks does not seem to allow font sizes larger than 96. So the fonts look to small, if I create the artwork at such large canvas/image dimensions.

Does anyone have the answer to this problem. I would appreciate some help.

          Regards
          Nick

    Hi Alminc,
You don't have to change the size of the flat image in step one.
After step 1----Go to step 2----then conclude by reshaping the
final ebook image to the size you desire.

    I agree with original post.

I own cover action pro and the original images are huge for quality

I have the same problems when I have a small image, it will not open up to the large file size without losing quality

If you notice, you cant even change the templates or you get errors when making a software box.

Ive tried many times to ad my own image to the templates and it will not work.

He has cover action pro 2 coming out I believe in Jan 2009 with some killer new styles.

    Hello,

You have to keep the step one the same

Ya 300 dpi is nice but when you have a 72 dpi image budget it is not
    so nice.

I converted a few of the actions from that set to 72 dpi what one
did you need if it is one I have already done I will let you know.
