Can we no longer use STARS in our thread titles?

I usually use those **Stars** in my WSO thread titles but this time around they keep getting removed.

Is there a recent new rule in place that forbids these now? I cant see anything in the WSO rules that says we cant use them and I've always used them in the past.

I know the crazy symbols are long gone...and thats a good thing.

If I missed the memo, I apologize in advance :rolleyes:

    Hi Peter,

    The rules say, "Just use common sense and create normal titles, with normal use of quotes and exclamation marks if desired."

    Normal is the keyword. Putting asterisks in your titles isn't normal. Well, unless your name is "seasoned" (Steve).

      Thanks Becky. I remember reading that part of the rules, I'm pretty sure it's been in there for a while.

      I'm curious now because WSOs I've done as recently as 2 weeks ago still have the stars/asterisks in place. While yesterdays does not...which made me think it was a recent update to the rules. Recent being in the past few weeks.

      The WSO Rules say there were last updated on 7/15/2010

        Hi Peter,

        I'm not a mod, but I'll take a stab at this...

        The mods can't catch everything. So the fact that one day you could have asterisks and the next day you couldn't really doesn't mean anything, especially since the rules pretty much disallowed them some time back.

        If you still have WSOs with asterisks in them, I think your best bet is to remove them... before they get removed for you (or worse yet, your WSO gets removed).

        Again, I'm not a mod, so the above is just my opinion.

    This reminds me of dialogue from Raising Arizona:

    Customer: "Do these balloons blow up into funny shapes?"
    Grocer: "Only if you think round is funny"

    Asterisks are just as easily abused as any other symbol. :-)
