Is the mistake I made commen for a newbie?

Hi warriors

I have seemed to have made a slight mistake in my eyes with my first 2 blogs. The problem is that I know nothing about the niches I picked I know that must sound a really stupid thing to do but I have done it.
I cant keep posting about stuff I no nothing about can I (agggghhhh!)

just go to some article directories, do a search on your niche, and then rewrite the content and post it.

you should do a little research before you start the blog first though.

forums are also great for getting content.

  • You could blog about how you know nothing on those niches, and then blog about what you are learning. With some research I am sure you can find something to blog about. When you know nothing about a subject a great way to learn is to try to explain it to others, but that could end up as a case of the blind leading the blind.

    Other suggestions:

Find some plr articles on your blog topic and re-write them to use as blog posts.

Or, hire guest bloggers, or ghost writers.

I am curious what are your blogs about?

I agree with this response 100%. In order to become successful, you need to be seen as a leader in the eyes of the people who come to your blog. Part of that is being able to teach them something. So educate yourself, and then share what you learn.

Set up some Google Alerts for your niches. You will get daily news to blog about.

Research the competitors sites. Rewrite your own pages on the same topics.

        Steve,

I'm gonna be the odd man out on this one and tell you to cut your losses and start with a niche that will fit you.

When you know something about a niche you can bring something to the party. When you don't, it's just noise.

It's not only noise, it's an uphill battle to stay focused and hang in for the long haul.

Changing to niches that you have a natural interest in, and have some knowledge to share will be a much better decision than spending a great deal of energy and effort on niches where you're just a "me too marketer". Or worse.

Find something that you will enthusiastically wake up to every day and put your energies there. You'll progress faster, you'll enjoy the journey more, and you'll stay focused when things get tuff.

Just make sure that if you are trying to make money with a niche you enjoy that you pick a niche where people spend money. There are zillions of them. Spend a little more time doing research. It pays off handsomely.

Think long term here Steve, you'll be glad you did.

If you're talking about the sites in your sig, perhaps you could investigate flipping them (selling them for a profit, even if it's only a small-ish one) over on SitePoint. You'd then have a little money to put into starting up something that really does interest you (make sure it's something profitable before you commit yourself!), as well as a bit more experience in what does and doesn't work.

I've seen sites with much less substance than yours sell on Sitepoint. There's a thread doing the rounds on here which talks about site flipping - I've forgotten what it's called, but it rises to the first page of the forum every couple of days like the Loch Ness monster coming up for air, so I expect it's due to make another appearance soon.

      Why can't you?

Aren't you able to look up information about a new subject?

Not trying to be harsh but there's helping and then there's hand holding...

I've gone into a number of niches that I knew nothing about. A few Google searches later and I had articles written.

That's not a big issue, there's plenty of resources available, read other blogs on the niche, check out article directories. Try to find quality information too, you might even purchase a few books from Amazon by authors who are well versed in your particular niche.

I wouldn't say you've made a mistake, you've just made your job slightly harder. You have access to a plethera of information (the internet). You can maintain those niches aslong as you do some research before you write.

You have a couple of nice looking blogs that shouldn't be hard to sell. You probably need to put the girl friend on the auction block as well. There is nothing more discouraging than having non-supportive people around you.

You really don't have to know anything. However, there must be a tiny interest on your part. I have chosen niches I know nothing about but by the time I am done researching, I have learned so much to become an expert in my own rights. Do research or outsource the work to someone else. that is another option.
