I Would Like Some Help/Advice For Ideas For My Logo Please

Hey Warriors,

I am glad to announce that my first profitable project is underway. Well to be honest, i have no money right now to pay for host/domain name but im working on that lol, the point is i have a plan and i have began making my product.

Anyway, I will using the company name Teenage Genius Solutions. That will be my company and the company assosiated with my products, it will be a website offering my products, reviews by me on other peoples products that i think would be helpfull, my biography so my customers can find out a little about me etc. - This website will not be up for months please note. I want to get some good high quality products out there first!

My point to all this is that i am going to make a company logo for Teenage Genius Solutions which i can use to brand with my products by puting the logo on/in my ebooks, videos etc.

The problem: I have no idea what-so-ever right now how to do the logo. I haven't got one single idea in my head! It is annoying me. I know i can make the graphic because a few years ago i used to design in photoshop as a hobby, and yesterday i attempted (randomly out of the blue) to turn a photo of myself into a piece of vector art, which incedently i think i done pretty well and i am proud of it considering i haven't designed much atall in the last 2 years and i have never attempted a vector piece before.

Ahh.. Im blabbering... Sorry.

So what i am asking for is some ideas for the logo to Teenage Genius Solutions.

Please post your ideas no matter how big or small - im just looking for something to spark my creative juices up

Thanks in advance,

Steven

    Steven,

I picture a lightbulb somewhere in the graphic? Perhaps above one of the characters heads. Perhaps your head in the vector you made of yourself. If it's just a random character that will represent a teen then you could make him/her a little pimply. I know this may sound silly, but might work?

You haven't really discussed it here, but what kind of products are you going to be selling? Maybe an image of that could be thrown in the mix. For example, if it's video you could include a video reel. If it's music then you could make an image of a CD. If it's Internet Marketing then money or $ signs. How about a Web 2.0. You could have a simple logo that is reflective and shines like the Web 2.0 logos out there.

Go to Google images and do searches on your niche. You will probably get the creative juices flowing that way as well.

    Hope that helps,

    -Flex

      Hi Steven,

When you design your business logo be sure to do it in black and white first before you add any color. The reason you want to do it in black and white first is that so it will render clearly in other mediums such as on a fax machine. A fancy logo that won't render well in black and white can limit your ability to use it down the road.

And since we're talking about using things down the road, let me give you a little food for thought...

Your business name should give clues about WHAT you do, and not necessarily about WHO you are. So a company name such as Teenage Genius Solutions could be perceived by the public as a company that helps people who are having problems with their teenage genious, as an example. I'm not sure how profitable a niche that is, but I'm sure Dr. Phil could squeeze a few bucks out of it. Who knows.

When it comes to choosing a good company name it is better to pick a name that will enhance your business image and not something that you think is cute. For instance, if you are currently a teenager, you won't stay that way for the next ten years. I promise, ain't gonna happen.

I know we can all relate to being a teenager. I was a teenager once, my children were teenagers once, and some of my grandchildren are teenagers right now. My dad who's 84 just had a stroke on October 26th and he's almost a teenager again. In fact, I had to to ground him and take away his car keys. But that's another story.

My point is this...If you are looking for long term success with a business you are most likely going to find that the name Teenage Genius Solutions will no longer seem like a good choice at some point.

Additionally, how the market perceives such a name will have a dramatic influence on how profitable you are. The current name you have chosen will no doubt turn off more potential customers than it will attract.

People need to relate to things before they plunk down their money. That is why folks name their businesses things like "Easy Cash in Ten Days", "Get More Dates", and "Three Inches in Three Days" as fanciful examples. Those types of names relate to the WANTS of the customers. They can identify with the name as something that will potentially bring value to their lives. Teenage Genius Solutions? Not too much to identify with there. Except of course, by you, and that's not a bad thing. Just don't expect it to translate into sales.

Now, I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me here, and that's OK. Perhaps you didn't want to hear what I just told you, either. But in the long run, if you rethink this issue you may just come to realize that picking a better business name will be a good long term decision.

If you think I'm kidding, ask Lil Bow Wow why he dumped the Lil now that he's not a Lil anymore.

      To your success,
