Ranking a video sales page on Google

Is it a bad idea to try to rank a video sales page with minimal text content? I've read mixed things that say 1) Google wants to rank "quality" pages and the page content is very important, but also 2) It's all about the quality and quantity of the inbound links to the page.

    Hi Delta223,

Well I guess it depends on how you chose to promote your page. If you are going to rely on Google and organic searches than I would say optimize your page by adding keyword rich content.

If you have the time to market your page and get backlinks to it and it's a great quality video that others will readily do so, than you may get away with out too much content.

For example, if it's a landing page asking people to sign up in exchange for some great tips on blah, blah, blah, you can get some JV's going on and not have to worry so much on the text since you can draw traffic to your page by utilizing their following.

Ideally, it would be best to have BOTH! Great video that entices others to link to you and at the same time optimized page with text so search engines can find and rank you.

    Good luck!
