Anyone know a GOOD way to say this?

Hi,

I want to be able to explain to folks that they will
be downloading a .pdf file.

The .pdf file is "zipped", i.e. a .pdf in a .zip file.

Rather than just explain that it's a .pdf, I feel compelled
to explain that it's inside a .zip file. I know that Windows
will usually open .zip files automatically...

..but is there a good way to refer to both, without writing
something the size of War and Peace? Lol.

..and would you be inclined to also refer to Winzip.com, and
that it can be downloaded for free?

Cheers,
#good

Why make it difficult for your customers to jump through another hoop by opening a zip file?

You ain't going to save much (if any) disk space or download time either . . . just send them to the pdf!

...with a link to adobe reader in the rare case that they don't have it already.

Not sure why you would need to zip it, unless you are bundling multiple pdfs into a single distributable. Also, be aware that older OS versions might not automatically unzip for folks.

      I agree.

But, if you must zip, just say it's a compressed pdf file or a zipped pdf file.

Here's how I word this on my download pages:

For your convenience, the report is published for viewing in Adobe Acrobat Reader (.pdf)... absolutely the best and easiest way to view the material! To view it, you will require the free Adobe PDF reader.

You can print ONE COPY of the report or save to disk and view on your computer.

You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the ebook PDF files.

If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader left click here to get it/upgrade FREE ===> Get Acrobat Reader FREE (Note - clicking this link will open a NEW page in your browser so you don't lose this download page.)

    Directions for Downloading:

"Right mouse click" the links below. You'll see a menu like the one to the right open up. (screenshot image here)

In Internet Explorer. Choose "Save Target As..." and download the file to your desktop (in Mozilla/Firefox you choose "Save Link As..").

Double click on the icon. The ZIP file will be extracted, and you'll be able to open your PDF document.

You will require an unzip utility like WinZip (many PCs come with the software pre-installed)

Perform the same download steps for each of the bonuses also.

You only need to download one copy.
    Hope this helps

    All success
