Affiliate Marketing Profit Disappears Overnight - Why? I'm Stumped!

So, I've been dabbling in affiliate marketing for a year or so, and finally started making some decent money in August after really pushing SEO. I was making 1-3 sales a day from several different clickbank products. This continued for about 5 weeks, into early September.

And then, all of sudden, the conversions just stopped. It wasn't like it trickled off slowly; one day I was making money and then nothing the next day, and it hasn't picked back up.

My website traffic quantity or quality hadn't changed, and I hadn't messed with my landing pages or anything. My clickbank hops hadn't changed much either. I went from around $425 a week to $100, if I'm lucky. It has now been 3 weeks of barely any money making.

It's so puzzling to me, since I get 100% of my traffic from Google, and my traffic has not changed significantly. Seems like there is no reason to stop making sales if the type of visitors to my website are the same as they've always been.

I'm wondering if this kind of thing is normal with affiliate marketing, to just have sales drop off for seemingly no reason for a period of time. Have you experienced this sort of thing? Can I expect it to rebound back to normal? Is this just a bad time of year for online sales?

I'm frustrated and confused at this point, and welcome any suggestions, advice or feedback you may have.

Thanks a lot!

This might sound a bit basic, but has the product you're offering been pulled from CB (or wherever) for some reason? Authors sometimes shut down book 1 when book 2 or book 1.1 is coming out.

I'd log in and see if the sites you're pointing to are still there.

Yeah, the products are still there and the links are working correctly. I'm still getting close to the same average number of clickbank hops as I used to. Like I said, it's such a mystery to me because on the surface nothing has seemed to change - same traffic, same # of hops, just no more sales.

Ask clickbank support to take a look for you. There could be technical problem, or maybe they did something with your account. Maybe even by accident. Silly things like this happen sometimes.

Ah, the good ol' "clickbank income halted" affiliate problem.

    Seems to happen fairly often.

Here is a hint: Open a brand new account and switch all your hoplinks out.

Based on most people's experiences, they see an immediate return of sales.

There are all kinds of theories that float around as to why this happens. No one really knows.

There is a second possibility, and that is a rapid change in the market somehow. People holding on to their money, variations in traffic, etc. etc.

How many sales were you getting a week?

I'm with rob; just open a brand new account with the same exact info, it doesn't matter. You'll see your sales return. I've done this several times now

      Thanks for your input Rob

I was averaging about 16 a week. The past 3 weeks I've averaged 3 or 4. I'll try opening a new account and switching my links.

I've thought about a change in the market as being the reason, but it didn't seem logical, since I've been getting the same amount and quality of organic Google traffic.

Yeah, the first choice with clickbank is a new account.

Let us know if that fixes it. If I was a betting man, I would say so.
