Email Follow Up Frequency

I have a squeeze page for a 'make money from home' product.

Now my question is how often should I email my list without being annoying or forgotten?

And how does the frequency change when my prospect become a customer? I'm assuming I should separate the two lists?

I've been trying to get some tips from seeing how other top Internet Marketer do it, but they seem to vary. For instance Mike Filsaime emails are pretty constant whilst Frank Kern is much less.

Any advice will be great - thanks in advance.

There was an interesting thread on the topic of e-mail
    frequency recently...

only e-mail me once a week or once a month.

The frequency isn't the core issue - it's the amount of
value I perceive I receive as a subscriber that determines
if I'm happy and remain on the list.

Focus on delivering high value content and offers and
frequency becomes less of an issue.
And yes, you should separate your prospect and customer
lists. In fact, you should segment your lists at every opportunity
so you can send relevant messages to your list members.

Technically you should send an email update about once every fortnight. Probably sending your offer ever once every month. At least that is what i would do.

Which ass did you pull these statistics out of?

Testing is the ONLY way to get accurate figures on
the best frequency for your list.

      Untested opinions do NOT count.

Yes, it IS about proven to work tactics and methods... NOT about general opinions.

The frequency of your emails depends on the quality of your content.

If you have top notch stuff to give to your subscribers even several times a week is possible.

The best thing you can do is email your list once a week and try to increase the frequency without spiking the unsubscribe rate.

    Hi Infoseeker,

If I were you, what I do from day one is to start building a relationship with your list. You can achieve it by encouraging a two way communication with your subscribers.

You can ask your subscribers what they think about your last email you have sent or what is their opinion of one of your blog posts and tell them to leave a comment. Then be sure to answer or comment back for every email or comment you receive. In a nutshell this is how to build a relationship with your list.

And as Shaun said you should separate your prospect and customer
    lists.

    hope this helps

Its such an open ended question - some say every day, some a couple of times a week, some more often.

We tend to broadcast to our lists twice a week - often just to keep in touch in order to build the relationship with the list .

Guess it all depends on what youre trying to achieve with your lists...

I'm about to do some tests on this very issue because one of the things I am wondering is if it also country-specific when it comes to "appropriate" frequency.

I'm UK based and at times some of the marketing methods we use have been characterised as 'slightly American' by UK-based customers giving feedback on the style of marketing.

(Personally I think we simply do what works while keeping on the right side of good practice...)

However, that said, this kind of feedback often includes references to frequency of emails. Something which our customers from elsewhere in the world don't seem to worry about (and that's why we're going to test it!)

As for the frequency we use, it changes depending on what is happening.

At the beginning of a campaign/launch we have more emails, sometimes as many as one-a-day (see next comment on this), however after that it is about servicing the customer base and the frequency drops to once-a-week but those emails are 100% content rather than promotion.

On the subject of launches, we are just testing a change of frequency to one every two days, specifically checking opens and click-thru-rates. It is too early to say whether there is a difference yet.

    Cheers, Michael

  • I am a firm believer in regular and recurrent emails to my list, obviously assuming you have good stuff to email about. Even at the risk of annoying a few (which are probably low quality subscribers), I like to keep a constant communication with my list (even daily!).
