#3 on EzineArticles Expert Authors + My Business Plan...What Next?

Hi

15 months ago, i laid down a business plan.
15 months later, i saw it become a reality.

I want to know from Warriors what i have done right, what i have done wrong, and how can i take this further. Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated!

Here is a (not-so) brief run-down of the steps i have followed:

Created 200 eBooks

1. Rummaged through several hundreds of niche (non-IM) PLR books i had. Selected around 200 of them.

2. Completely re-formatted all these 200 books so that they looked visually better and more appealing. Spell-checked them as well. In fact now they look completely different and are of better quality from the originals.

3. I wanted to provide great value to my buyers. So I put in more content to each of these books by adding 30-40 relevant articles. Hence the resulting book was more than double the existing number of pages. (1.5 line spacing, font 10). And really FULL of valuable content.

4. Created fresh 200 ecovers for these books.

5. Re-titled each book to make it fresh and attractive.

6. Added relevant 2-3 affiliate Ads (mainly from Clickbank) in each book.

Webstites

1. Completely re-formatted the 200 sales letters that came along with the 200 ebooks. made them more attractive than their original counterparts.

2. Wrote fresh headlines for each of these 200 sales letters. I wanted to change the headlines because your headlines can make or break your campaign (i am far from a copywriter, but i did my best!)

3. Created 126+ autoresponders and added them to these sites to capture leads (managed through Aweber) Each autoresponder has around 10-15 follow-up messages. These messages are full of content, and i am promoting around 2-3 affiliate programs after every few days.

4. Created 126+ One Time Offers for my websites where i give my buyers 3-4 books (that compliment their purchase) for a price less than what they have just paid for 1 book.

5. Categorized these sites according to their niches, and uploaded all of them across 25 different domains

Free Books

1. Created fresh 126 books containing massive content (around 70 pages on an average) and gave them away when people signed up for my autoresponder. Overall the content would be around 8,000+ pages.

2. Inserted related affiliate ads from Clickbank in each book

3. Also converted these 126 books into rebrandable books, so that people could add their affiliate links.

(I recently offered these 126 books as a WSO and the response was great!)

4. There is one ad in each of these books that points directly to one of my related websites. This thus creates a viral effect, and gets visitors back to my site on auto-pilot.

Article Marketing

1. I hired a team of writers and I spent almost 1 year and thousands of dollars to write 7,000 articles related to my above 200 websites.

2. I started submitting these articles to Ezine Articles and right now i am at #3 in the Expert Author's section.

Affiliate Program

1. I run my affiliate program through CB as well as Fantasos. Any affiliate can promote any of my 200 ebooks and earn around 75% commission.

The entire business process mentioned above is managed through Fantasos as my back-end. It is like the Almighty, controlling everything!

My immediate next step

1. Get married (11th December!)
2. Go for my Honeymoon
3. Adding all 7000 articles to my websites
4. Create blogs with my articles as content. (you might be surprised, but i don't have a blog yet!)

As you can see, i put in some effort to create all this. All my books have link back to my main site. So this is a kind of a huge network, where one product is also promoting other products. And i hope this network will grow over time.

I would like to know from expert Warriors what can i do to take this to the next level.

What have i done wrong?
What can i do better?
What should be the things i should now focus on?
Any suggestion that adds value to my products?
Any suggestions that make my products irresistible to my buyers?

In fact, i am very open to any ideas that helps me grow this baby into a Godzilla!

Regards
Abhi

    Abhi,

It seems like you have been busy

Not really sure what you could do better because I don't know what kind of results you have had as far as how much you are banking for everything you've done.

But, it seems like you have your bases covered

      Hi Jeremy / Andy

      Thank you.

My main source of traffic right now is through articles. Some of my articles have gone live just 2 days ago. It will take another few days for all my articles to be live. So i think i will need to wait a while before results are seen.

2 years ago I had authored one book, and made it popular by writing just 20 articles. I get around 10-15 sales per month from that book alone. All free traffic. I just rinsed and repeated the process for 200 books. And 7,000 articles.

I know some books would be real losers, but some would be real winners. Its all a numbers game.

When i did my WSO for my 126 rebrandable books, i made 40+ sales in 2 weeks.

      Hello Norma

As Hamida correctly pointed out, I have used all PLR books, and i have all rights to modify them as much (or as little) as i want to.

So there is no problem with that.

You are a real example of determination and focused action plan.
Taking action is the real thing which you have taken and I congratulate you for being goal oriented.

I also think that you have covered almost every thing that's required to become a great internet marketer.

It will however be more important to analyse the success you have had from your journey thus far so that you rinse and repeat those actions which have resulted in dividends. That will help more.

      Hi Rajul

      Really appreciate your kind words.

I did take 15 months to do what i have done. But if i am asked to do it again, probably i will to it in 6 months.

I have made a lot of mistakes, trusted some wrong people, dreamed a little less than i should have, not outsourced enough, etc.

But its all a journey where we learn and grow.

Yes, i need to do some extensive testing and keep an eye on whats happening, and whats not!

You are a hard working entrepreneur too.
And i wish you all success in whatever you do
      .

(wow, that was a nice little rhyme!)

There is a lot about your business that grates with me. If I was an author of an e-book and found that someone had copied and then changed it to look like their own, if done without permission, I would be screaming plagarism.

I think you better check out the legals in terms of what you are doing. It might sound OK but your might get caught out if you are doing the wrong thing.

The only sensible advice I can give is - Look at what's making money and do more of it.

Since you never mentioned whether all this effort is making any money, there's no way to tell you what's right or wrong since it's only wrong if it didn't make money, and only right if it did.

So - track as much as you can and do more of what's working.

Abhi I wish you MASSIVE success with your plans buddy.

I would suggest that pick the top 5 winners out of 200 sites/products
and put your all efforts and energies to make more sales, more leads,
and bigger lists... this way you will have more leverage from your efforts..

Again I am proud of you as you have really proved how serious you

Wait a minute, you rebranded 200 eBooks and have them up for sale on CB.
You created 126 eBooks of average 70 pages of content as free giveaways to promote.
    You created 7,000 articles.

    Thats AMAZING.

I take my hat off to you for your incredible dedication and hard work.

I'm a believer that one of the keys to this game is "volume and scaling". Put another way; if you can create something that brings in $5 per day, create 100 of these. Not only that, but all the products in a catalog help sell the other products and lift the whole network higher.

My only critique of what you have done... it's sometimes good to test things small scale before going big. That way you know that your efforts have been in the right direction. However, it sounds as though you've been working to a masterplan from the outset... and it seems you've created such an incredible asset for yourself that it's destined to take off.

Would love to be kept up to date on how you put this Godzilla into motion; and how well it does for you. Are you going to blog about it? Let me know, I'll subscribe.

    All the best!

      Yes and No.

Yes, i do have 200 books that anyone can promote through Clickbank.

But No, i do not have these books in the CB marketplace. I am using Easy Click Mate to manage multiple CB products through one CB account. Using this method, only 1 product per account will be live in the CB marketplace.

Once a few products emerge as sure-shot winners. I will be creating different CB accounts for each of these products.

Even i believe in testing things out before going gung-ho about something! But i am not too much of a testing freak. I feel testing involves a lot of variables that are beyond our control.

I know that around 5% products would do really well and around 25% would not do well at all. But around 70% would give me average sale. By average, i mean at least 1-2 sales a month. That's around 150 sales a month.

But these % that i have given are just very random. I would wait and see what the actual results are.

And thank you for your encouraging words. Really appreciate it.
I am not planning to blog about it right now, but if i do, i would sure keep you posted.

It's interesting what you say about sure-shot winners and the top 5%... I've found this to be the case with many of my IM ventures.
For example, my most successful web site gets ten times as much traffic as the second most successful!
It seems you have to try a lot of things to find the winners. If you only create one or two products, one or two web sites, you're not giving yourself every chance of success.

    Best,
    Alex.

My article submission is currently underway. Should be having all articles live in the next few days. I should then give a few days for the articles to "mature" before seeing some results.

The results that i am already seeing is in terms of my subscribers. Since the last 2 days, i have seen a 3x increase in my subscriber base per day. Let me see if this is just a one-time phenomenon or it is here to stay.

A few more days into this would give me a better picture.

    Hi Abhi,

Great job for creating your plan, working your plan to achieve your goals and taking focused action.

You had asked for any ways to improve and I'd just like to suggest

taking some of those free reports you offer to get opt ins

and submitting them to the several giveaway events as gifts

to get more targeted traffic in front of your one time offers,

in your follow up system and back to your site.

The reason it is targeted traffic, is because only the people that

read the description of your gift and decide they want to opt in

are on your list and that can add a lot of extra sales to your one time offers as well as help you build a list of buyers from those who

take you up on your offer.

If you'd like some more info on easy ways to get started with that and to really maximize it, drop me a pm.

But what does that mean? 3x increase doesn't tell us anything. If you were getting 2 subscribers before, that means you're getting 6 now. Are we to assume by your tone that so far, your strategy hasn't resulted in sales? With over 3,000 articles live, I hope this isn't the case.

    2. Free giveaways are a good idea. In the IM niche, most giveaways do not allow more than 1 product per person. I will need to find out about giveaways in Non-IM niches. And if i find some, i think its a great idea to work on. Thanks!

I wonder what EZA thought of this! Must have backed them up a little bit...

How long did it take you to submit all of your articles?

How many articles are live right now?

How many article views have you gotten so far?

How many clicks to your links?

How many e-mails have been added to your lists?

There is no right & wrong really, all there is, is better or worse results - one thing is for sure, you've put in a boat load of effort!! Nothing can be wrong about that, now really all you can do is deal with the results - and tweak anything that you find you could have done better, in terms of results.

The only real wrong thing, I think, is not taking action in the first place, you've taken action, and massive action at that!

    Good on ya!

    Hi

A message to all those who want to know how much sale i have been averaging...

I am using Articles as the main source of traffic for my sites. And I have started submitting my articles to EZA just 2-3 ago.

If you have tried submitting articles, you would know that it takes a while before you see traffic. You WILL get traffic...and hoards of them...but you require a lot of patience, and have to give time for the articles to spread.

I hope that within the next 1 week or so, i should start seeing results. I will keep the forum posted about my progress and sales.

Wow, kudos on the massive action. I do wonder if it might have been easier for you to start smaller. It sounds like you did all of this work before driving traffic to any of your websites. Was there a reason for not submitting articles sooner?

        Hi Thomas

        Thank you

As i had mentioned in one of my posts, i have a site i created 2 years ago. Wrote around 20 articles for that site. And just those few articles are responsible for around 15 sales a month from that site alone.

So i knew that this business model works.

I wanted to repeat it. So instead of doing it one by one, i did all of them together. I believe it would have taken me several years had i started slowly.

With so many distractions around, it is very difficult to maintain focus for an extended period of time. And when i am focused, I prefer doing things in a big scale.

I know. Many people like to play safe and start low. And i appreciate that. But that's just not me. I believe in big numbers and i know the law of averages will play its role.

Regarding articles, it took me a lot more time than i expected (3 months more than what i had originally planned). But i am glad that it is all ready now!

    Wow Abhi,

Thats a massive effort you have taken. If I'm not mistaken, you did a lot of groundwork before submitting any articles to EzineArticles. So about a month ago, you would have been at a rank of 10,000 or more in EA, and today you are #4 !

That must have given the editors at EA a lot of headaches. But hey, that will get you some massive traffic.

Am interested in hearing your results of all that traffic in a week or so. Also what are your ongoing marketing plans. Do you plan on writing and submitting more articles for each product, or are you going to wait and see what happens before taking the next step.

    Peace,

      Hi Shafir

Yeah, there was a lot of groundwork before i started my submission. No, i wasn't at #10,000 . I was at #728 because i had already submitted a few articles a few months ago for some other niches. I have now moved from #728 to #3

I started my submission after communicating with EZA. Did not want them to think that i was spamming them!

I will keep you updated about the results.

    Update:

I now have 6,929 articles live on EzineArticles. Less than 100 left before I reach the 7,000 mark.

I got 52 subscribers for my niche sites yesterday. I am already at 39 today. Since i have more articles live today than yesterday, hopefully i should cross 75 subscribers today.

I am aiming at 200 subscribers per day in the next 2 months.

      I'm not impressed... yet.

I think a lot of you who are commenting are missing the point. I would not applaud Abhi's work ethic until I saw some numbers. For example, total profit generated. How much did he make from this excursion? Next, how many hours did he put into it related to the profit he made from those hours?

The key is not just massive action. Doing a lot of hardwork that doesn't result in big payoff isn't smart... it's dumb.

I'm into doing the tasks that have the highest leverage of my time. So what I want to know is hour to profit ratio.

Second, I would NOT have sunk 15 months into so many projects. 80/20 rule. Out of those 200 books, I'd bet $1500 that only 10-15 are really making any money. Result: dump the rest and then focus my time only on the money makers. Develop continuity programs and complimentary offer on the backend. This is where the real money is made. You already have proven demand... you can leverage that 8 ways to sunday and make 10 times the cash you're going to make on the front end. So it'd be a dumb business move NOT to do this.

Anytime someone isn't forthright with their numbers, and focuses on less significant numbers, a red flag goes up in my mind. As an entrepreneur, the first thing that is always on my mind is profit. profit. profit. Not how many articles did I submit. How many products I made. My ranking on ezinearticles. I want to know average profit per article. average profit per product. etc.

That's how you make business decisions.

Lastly, it sounds to me that this isn't getting the success that Abhi initially envisioned. And I'm speculating of course, but if that is true, then I think the reason is obvious. Abhi is NOT focusing on the client actually wants but on what he thinks the client wants. So he equates bulk to value. The marketplace doesn't always do so. He equates nice looking ebooks and covers with value. That's not always true in the marketplace. Much much more important is what they are desperate for and what they want more than anything else. Find a solution to that and you can write it in crayon on the back of a napkin and you're delivering 10 time more value than a beautiful looking ebook with tons of well-researched but not groundbreaking content.

The only reason I'm being the professor of harsh reality here is because I think a lot of you warriors who are trying to succeed online are making a huge mistake if you're thinking what Abhi did is smart and something to model. I don't know if it was a smart business move or not. Only when I see the numbers.

Remember, at the end of the day it's profit. That's the only number that matters in business.

        Hi Jason

That was a great post and a very passionate one too.

I agree with most of what you have said. At the end of the day its profit and nothing but profit.

I think i have been very transparent in my posts mentioning that it has been just a few days since i have started submitting articles. And i need to give it some time before i can get the "real numbers".

Had this been a big JV launch or something, probably i could have given the numbers within 24 hours. But unfortunately this is all about getting organic search engine traffic.

My focus from the very beginning was getting traffic through articles I knew JV and other modes of traffic would soon follow. And no matter how much i dislike this fact, the thing is, i need to give a gestation period before i see real numbers.

I have structured this entire project so that there are various points of monetization:

        1. Sales from my front end books.
        2. Sales from my OTO of my front end books.
        3. Sales from OTO after a subscriber subscribes to any of my lists.
        4. Sales from the affiliate ads in all my front end books
        5. Sales from affiliate ads in all my free books
        6. Sales from any rebranding package of my free books
        7. Sales from my Affiliate pitches in my autoresponders
        8. Sales from any affiliate broadcast messages to any of my niche lists.
        9. Any earnings from contextual (adsense etc) or In-text (kontera etc) across my thousands of article pages on my niche sites ( i am still in the process of setting this up)
        10. % of sales made by my affiliates.

I have tried to structure this entire setup so that the above monetization methods are all linked to each other, like a huge network. The traffic i would be getting would be driving sales, and each sale would be driving more traffic.

I believe in 80/20 rule too. And i know just a few of these books will be winners. The others, though not winners will give me some sales every month. And if you add them up, it will surely put a smile on my face.

Just an example. Two days ago i made my first sale. And it was from a niche that i would least expect. It was about perfumes. Out of all the interesting niches i have, this was something surprising.

Now if i tested all my niches before starting my work, i am very sure that creating a site on perfume would probably be the last thing i did.

Creating nice looking ebooks, formatting the books well, may not be enough in themselves. But they are very important pieces of the big picture. In their own rights, every element counts.

Bulk may not equal quality. But there is quality in bulk. If that was not the case, we would not be talking about building huge lists. Because 80% of those on the lists hardly buy anything from us. Only 20% do. These 20% are hidden somewhere in our lists.

80% of my 7,000+ articles will probably not give me enough traffic. But 20% will.
Which 20% are they? I don't know. Only time will tell. But they are there, for sure.

My main point here is this:

        1. Organic traffic takes time. And it is unfair to expect "numbers" so soon.
        2. Testing is great. But getting overly obsessed with testing might make you lose several additional sales from between the cracks.
        3. There is power in bulk. Quality will surface only from quantity.

        Regards
        Abhi

          Ha Abhi,
That is so Awesome to be able to do what you did. Great job and keep it going. Also, I want to commend you on how you reacted to the guy who was obviously trying to make controversy in the post before yours. Good job for NOT feeding into him . As to me he was just wanting to rile you up and be a hater. Congrats, on taking the higher ground.

For folks that do not recognize him, he is Abishek Agarwal from Matt Callen's Adsense arbitrage case study...are u a full time could be an understatement

About your current project, I wish you luck and I will be surprised if it breaks even or profits for you. But I hope to be surprised

Also a bit curious, does the arbitrage model still work for you?

No wonder I thought the name looked very familiar. I just could not place the name.

While I applaud the effort expended, I think it might have been a good thing to stagger the articles, ie to submit a few articles per subject per week, instead of going one shot and flooding the market with the articles.

We do know that Captain TimG has around 1500+ articles, and makes 5 figures a month from them (He does not even have an opt in on many (all?) of his sites) but he does do a lot of testing on which niches work.

Frankly, I do not know what kind of results to expect from such a massive article blast, though from my own experience, 5 articles in 1 day did worse than 1 every few days for 5 articles.

This is still a phenomenal effort, and sticking to the plan must have taken massive willpower.
