Monetizing Google Street View

Hi all,

Been thinking about the recent roll-out of Street View in my country and it got me thinking about ways that a revenue could be made from it. I thought about offering a service to painting contractors that would entail checking out the premises of businesses and seeing which ones could do with a lick of paint (I know the maps aren't live) but it's a starting point for an idea.

A carpenter could check out a broken fence and offer to repair it for them saying they found them online.

Another aspect could be that you may be meeting a client onsite and this will give you a chance to check out the building before you head in there - is there parking outside? Is it easy to recognise the building etc?

Interested to know if there are any angles on monetizing Street View, if you'd care to share

The Street View (Google Earth, etc) feature makes me a bit hesitant. I wonder if there are implications as far as invasion of privacy. For example, I'm not sure how thrilled or comfortable I'd be if I received an unsolicited quote/offer from a contractor who had been able to look at my home online.

The other aspects I agree with. You could definitely use it to check out parking and locate a building before a meeting. Those are great time-management uses.

      Good point about the privacy:

I think you are over complicating something that essentially should be derived from good local business marketing.

I would personally advise researching a market such as building for your area and finding what keywords (if any) are searched for in a decent amount, decent being quantified by a number you determine, as being worth the effort required to capture that traffic.

If you are essentially spying on gardens etc for who needs a broken fence, all you will have identified is a broken fence. What you want is someone with a broken fence who "wants a broken fence fixed".

Feed the hungry market rather then convince someone they need what you provide, if you can do that instead.

If I'm looking for "builder new york" in Google or any other area, then if you can get in front of those people you won't need to overcome as many barriers required to complete a sale.

You can build a relationship with a builder in your area and sell the leads to him or simply rent the website out to him / month.

Honestly, don't overcomplicate things and target your marketing efforts to those looking to listen because if you pitch to those who won't give you their ear - you will never make a sale REGARDLESS of what you say.
