More & more Javascrpt and Flash Disabled
Then heard on radio today, about a 'movement' toward straight HTML due to it's speed, and because some hand-helds do not support flash at this time, (though there are plans for it's support in the works in many of the phone workshops).
It would appear, for mobile device, at the very least, a site should degrade well. (still look good with flash and javascript turned off.)
Also, with mobile, many pay per gig delivered, so a strict HTML site would cost less. (If they want to watch videos, it is easy enough to 'left click' and allow applications for single instances).
Instead of the internet making people stay home, it is more and more being used mobile, such as a group in a bar can share videos or whatever in a bar and see the reactions of their friends instead of sending a link or posting on Facebook and what have you.
Beginning to think, mobile will be a very large (if not the largest) group of users soon. Instead of getting fancier, seems to be a retro coming down the pike. Especially as older users are sucked into the net by need (health insurance companies, as one example), and are either technophobes or just uncomfortable with new stuff and are looking for basic machines (with big easy to see buttons).
A good site/sales page needs to look good on a phone as well as a 900 X 1440 screen. Not as prevalent still, yet, but seems every day there is more and more mobile activity and less and less javascript and flash turned on.
Just a trend I am noticing. Every niche would no doubt be different, check your logs?
(BTW- did you know the latest version of On-Star allows you to update your status on Facebook... WHILE DRIVING!?!?!?!)
"Officer, I was on the phone with my sick grandmother while texting my daughter who didn't come home last night and updating my Facebook to see if anyone was near enough to check on grandma, when the tree ran out into the road!"
It is a crazy as recycled cardboard computers... what kind of a box do they come in?
A thought.
