Very simply - anything asking for your passwords and birth date is a scam - don't care what it says.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Microsoft will never send out an e-mail to us like this because for one simple reason:
They earn a gazillion of dollars on advertisements that are running on these hotmail pages.

By the time I try and respond with fake information, my browser has already identifed the site as unsafe. Why people try to keep pulling this crap off is beyond me.

The latest scam I've gotten is the "Your Fedex Shipment". I almost was tempted to click on it one time after I had recently shipped about five packages. But before I opened it, I realized I didn't have the account attached to that email. Thankfully I averted that disaster.

Because it evidently works for some people - think about the fear factor involved.

If in doubt, hit the website by typing the URL into the address bar manually.

When you login you will see legitimate user messages or alerts or calls to action. Reputable sites always use their sites to handle such things, so feel free to discard all emails and just login directly to check.
