PDF or Videos? Which one You Prefer More?

Hi,

Just an interesting question to ask to all of you, which came to my mind.

Do you like PDF ebooks, or videos or audios more, as a medium to learn new things or ideas?

Though PDF ebooks are still the ruling medium for info product sales as of now, but don't you think in near future (probably within next 2 years) PDF ebooks will be replaced by videos?

I still myself prefer Pdfs rather than videos to learn. Because it is easier to re-read. But videos are sometimes more preferable.

So what medium do you enjoy more for learning and enjoyment, Pdfs, audios or videos?

    Honestly, I love pdfs.

I hate learning by audios and vidoes because I can't go at my own pace and have to listen to the entire thing even if I want to skip and skim certain parts.

PDFs for me. In Australia our internet is expensive and videos especially suck up a lot of bandwidth for us. I prefer videos and audios that do not auto-load and indicate how long they are so we have some control over using them. Hands down for consumption, PDF is the way to go. However, for branding, videos and also audios are better from a marketing viewpoint.

        I agree with mello.

Coming from a marketer's perspective audio and video are better to them because they get to charge more; however, coming from my perspective as a customer, I simply loathe video and audio, especially the sales letter. I won't know what the heck they are selling and can't skim to the bottom to get the entire overview, and have to wait for the entire 30 minutes video to be over to finally understand what they are trying to sell, and never even bother to watch the video in the first place when I come to a video sales page.

I agree with you on that adding a video on a salespage may make the customer impatient as they may not have the time to watch the entire video. Adding the text is better because it makes it easier to skim through.

If it is a do-it-yourself course, I prefer video.

Short videos are OK, but I really don't like these 500 meg downloads some people are offering as products.

If it's sales material, PDF is fine.

But if it's actual content - something I'd like to learn and use - I prefer AUDIO. I simply download it to my iPod and listen in the car. At any given time I have a playlist of 5-20 audio seminars ready to go on my iPod. It's a great way to get through the piles of information while I work out, walk the dog, or drive.

What I ( or you), personally, like... doesn't really matter in our marketing efforts.

What is going to happen in 2 years that all the humans who can and want to read will die out suddenly???

P.S. If you are selling such info-products, offer them in both formats. Your customers will love you!

If I'm expected to digest a lot of material, PDF's are definitely the way to go.

However, if you're outlining something that's easier shown than explained, video is the way to go.

But, I never want to be idling the browser trying to get the video to buffer, so for me, PDF's are the most obvious choice in many cases.

Well I'd say it depends on the content...but usually I like if both is available, a manual and some videos.

    I say both.

Some things are best learned by reading, other times you have to see it to know.
