Do you ever feel lost?

Hey all,

Do you ever feel lost? Sometimes I sway, but generally I feel lost quite often. I guess this is what happens when I keep pushing forward and learn new things. It's like I'm in the perpetual state of not knowing lol.

We have created and launched 2 products now. Neither of them sell to well. I'm not sure what to do. It's hard to do split testing when your sales are 0. Not much to compare to if you know what I mean.

We are working on a new brand that we can launch all of our products from. The only problem is that it doesn't make much sense to scale up a system that doesn't work.

What is the best plan of attack if we are getting no sales? Just simply ask the prospect why they aren't buying?

Do you have any measures that you take before product creation to help increase the chances that it will sell?

Thanks

Brandon

    Hi Brandon;

    Sorry to hear about your predicament, but I suggest 3 things;

You know what you're going to find out from this post on? Advice. HELP And that will address this "pressing problem" you're experiencing. Can you translate that to your product and potential customers?

I would not be asking them why they are not buying, you could find a forum in your niche and find out what types of "pressing problems" they are experiencing and if you can't incorporate into your product, you can incorporate into your service to your customers, a free report, etc.

SECOND - read the first, have you identified a need for your product or did you create it with the hope someone will want it, you may think its a brilliant idea, but is there a market for it? Use a keyword search tool and type in some keywords....don't just search word or keyphrase, use WEBSITE. Also look around on yahoo answers and type your niche or keywords into the search and see what kind of questions others are asking.

LASTLY -if you are FEELING lost, you will be lost, try and focus on everything going right for you, if not in your business (at the moment) then, in your life.

    Good Luck to you!

    Terri

      Hey Terri,

Thanks for the advice. The demand for this product is quite high. The main keyword is over 130, 000 searches per month and that does not include all the variations.

There are many products in the marketplace the are selling. In fact, there are over 5 solid products on CB all showing a decent gravity. Also, there are several published books on Amazon.

Lastly, there are many PPC ads showing for the main keyword. This is a good indication that there is money in this market.

      Cheers!

When feeling lost, regroup by focusing on your 'why'. It's got to be strong enough to pull you through those lost moments. If not, change it!

I heard a great tip recently and that was surveying your list using Survey Monkey. It's an opportunity for you to find out exactly what they are looking for!

    Good luck.

I completely agree with you Jacquis about your WHY.....it can (and should sustain you) during these times.

Brandon, it sounds like you answered your own question about...Do you have any measures that you take before product creation to help increase the chances that it will sell? You've done your homework, so I agree again with Jacquis' suggestion to use Survey Monkey to survey your market with the questions that will reveal exactly what they want (and willing to pay for)

i.e. What is your biggest problem regarding _________?
How difficult is it to find the answer/solution to this problem?
What would you most like to learn about _________?

I'd just leave out the Why won't you buy this product....

      Again, good luck!

If you have zero sales you can still split test. Start a PPC campaign with keywords that people would search for when looking for a product like yours. Split test 2 different landing pages until you get a few sales. Then you should be able to go from there.

If you have a product that people actually want, then a good PPC campaign usually works once you get it optimized.

Brandon, you may feel lost, but to me it sounds like you're on the right track.

Asking you prospect what it is that you can do to help THEM is a great idea.

If you launched 2 products that didn't sell well, the questions I'd be asking are:

    1) Is there a BUYING market? People looking for FREE ringtones aren't looking to buy anything.

    2) Was the copy well written or was it weak?

    3) Did the offer get in front of enough eyeballs?

There aren't measures to take to "make sure" it will sell, simply measures to take to increase the chance of it selling well.

Research the need for the product (does not having it cause people pain? Can it relieve pain or inconvenience?)

Make sure they are a buying market

Entice them by giving them something cheap or free so they can see the quality of your work before buying the real deal.

Keep going man...this is all part of the journey.

      Hey Mike,

Thanks for the advice. What is your best advice regarding marking sure they are in a buying market? Remove negative keywords from keyword searches? Make sure there are ads and similar products out there?

      Thanks

There was a really good list of steps to take posted by another member. Not sure if it will help in your situation though, but is a good reference, maybe your not doing something vital to get ranked or pull extra traffic, like article marketing.

Keep in mind that some products just won't sell to much either, and without the write content to nudge them you could be losing lots.

Check out these steps on this post:http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...h-post-so.html

      Hi Brandon...

Some great ideas here already -- hope you take them to heart.

There are a ton of things to learn. In fact, the learning never ends. But each new discovery can get you closer to your goal. So by all means, hang in there!

Your copy is important, though nothing is more important than the offer. But even the best offer ever conceived can fall flat when presented to the wrong group or non-buyers.

Ideally, you'd want to confirm that you have a hungry niche well in advance of creating your product. Since you already have the product, consider changing the way you present it. Create an alternate concept. Find a new problem your product will help buyers to solve. Position it in a new way. Try something different.

Get more feedback from those in the market, then change your approach accordingly. Stick with it. When you get it even half right the payoff can make it all worthwhile.

        Brandon,

Are your two products related? If so, one idea is to bundle them together as a bonus to a third product (again related) which will start to tip the cost/ value equation in your favour.

As for feeling lost, it happens to me all the time. Self doubt is normal and can be useful. When I get those nagging feelings and questions, I answer them honestly and write the answers down. Then I take steps to overcome these self-objections. In the process I often clear up a good number of objections customers might have when considering my offers. Works for me anyway.

It sounds like you have put so much time and effort into your new product launch so you might not like what I have to suggest - but...

Some days you just have to let go. You have put a lot of solid work into your product, you have worried and fretted over it and chances are you have made it as perfect as it can be. You have determined there is a need for the product - basically you have done all you can do. My suggestion is to go to the beach for the day -oops you are in Canada it might be getting a bit cold for that. But go somewhere. Do something that is not work related - for the whole day. Just go and have fun.

Then when you are completely relaxed the ideas for what you need to do next will come - honestly. It is just at the moment this is probably consuming your every waking minute and I can understand that. But you have already mentioned about doing a survey - great idea and it won't hurt to try it so on some level your brain is still working on other ways you can promote what you have got - so give your brain a holiday for the day and I am sure you will be able to come up with the solution you need.

An NLP presupposition I remember above all others is that we all have within us the resources we need to succeed. So I know you can do it - I just suggest cutting your brain a bit of slack so you can sort this out.

Sending you heaps of good luck
    Lisa

There's a lot of reasons for not making sales....if the product is wanted by the public, you're wasting time and money....then I'd move on. If a product doesn't sell in the first week....I'd move on...Test it on ebay, clickbank, Bonanzle or whereever.
