I use Camtasia to create videos, but I was working on rebranding my first PLR video and I decided to try it out in windows movie maker and I found I could add more interesting effects to the title clips in movie maker, and when I cut some parts out the transitions were somewhat smoother than Camtasia. Another question; when you do camtasia screen recordings do you narrate as your doing the recording or do you add it in later? I narrate as I doing the recording but I end up doing it over because of the ums and and's. I have tried to cut those parts out but I always seem to make it worse than better. I would appreciate anyones thoughts |

I think you should plan ahead and write down step by step in chronological order what you want to show. You can always pause the recording, rehearse what you want to show and say, then continue recording. Another effective approach it so write a script of what you want to say, then follow along to create the screen sequence you need. |

You could create your screen recordings with 'ums' and later record better audio to replace the bad parts of your first recording. This will save you much time as it is easier and faster to record audio only (maybe even while watching your already created video). Ralf

Movie Maker is free and worth that price but not much more... Easy way to answer your second question is with a question: "What's easier to do? One thing at a time or two?" I always record my audio first using a specific script. I don't forget things, I can craft the messages until they are crisp and clear, etc. I then edit that audio track. No ummm's...no ahhhh's. Good clean audio. I then play it back while I'm recording the screen movement and just follow along. If I mess up any of that recording, it's easy to start over and do it right. WHY? Because the audio is ALWAYS the SAME.

It really depends on what you'd like to rebrand on the video. Windows Movie Maker is free and you can use it do a lot, but of course with Camtasia you can do a lot more. Quote:
Instead of saying um, trying replacing it with an unobvious transition, like "So..." or "ok, great, let's move on". I found that helps remove the ums and of course there's a lovely F9 button which pauses the recording. I edit all my videos after recording them anyways, but if you can lessen the mistakes, it makes life easier. Good luck with your video making.
