If you have to start a new site, how do you distribuite your backlinks?

What % to your home page?
Waht % to your money pages (review, sales page, etc)?
What % to other pages?

And when it starts to rank?

I only make links to relavent pages/articles I want to promote. People always find my homepage naturally and thus I get homepage ranking and key page ranking. Naturally forums and other places sometmes force only homepage links in the sig, so I abide by that, otherwise promote your converting pages, it is why you created them.

I generally like simulating organic backlinking behaviour.
So it really depends on your website...
Is it a news-like blog? Then there is some possibility for a lot of backlinks going directly to your homepage. Regular blog? Deeplinking then. Hot new product launch? Backlink your product pages!
