When to use Landing Page vs. Blog vs. Sqeeze page etc?

When do you decide to use a landing page vs. a blog vs. a squeeze page vs. a mini site etc? Which types of offers do I match with each sales format? Any help is appreciated. I know this is another dumb newbie question and I should be whipped, drawn and quartered for not knowing, but we can do that after I make some cheez! lol

I'd say the landing page and squeeze page (especially) is more for capturing your leads. The blogs are more for keeping leads and others updated. Its like a little community of people you've helped or will help paying close attention to what you're putting out.

I'm not sure exactly what your needs are, but you should explore all these options or a combination of them.

    Good luck!

@Shabit87...So I always should use a landing page even though I am just creating blog to have content to drive traffic in hopes of users clicking ads? BTW I am in Atlanta as well.

First of all, let's help you get some terminology straight, which will aid communication and perhaps enable others to give you their opinions a little more easily.

"Landing page" is simply a generic term to describe whatever the page is on which people "land" when they click a link to get to your site. It means, more or less, "front page" or "home page". It can be a blog, a sales page, a squeeze page, or actually whatever type of page you want it to be. Think of it as "where the links take people".

In my opinion, it's not only the "type of offer" to which the page needs to be matched. It's the type of visitor. In other words, it depends who they are and how they got there.

I'll give you an example: for some of my sites, most visitors get there by clicking on a link in the resource-box of very long articles with low-ish CTR's. These people are highly targeted potential buyers, but they want to see "more of the same" first: they want to see that I have a big site with lots of nice things for them to read. And if I pander to that, almost all of them will buy something (or more than one "something"), sooner or later. When I've tested these with squeeze pages as my landing pages, requiring an opt-in before I show anything else, I haven't done nearly as well.

But I understand that many people using PPC advertising (such as Google AdWords) to get traffic to their site tend to do better, overall, using a pure squeeze page as their landing page for that traffic.

It's kind of "courses for horses". But ultimately, it's something you can be certain of only by testing it for your own niche, your own visitors and your own business.

Usually if i understand it right ppl makes a external page, with superb eye catching headline that makes people want to click on it.
once they clicked on the link they go to your "real" page which is the landing page.
So having a good landing page will of course help U alot.
