Looking for Easiest PayPal Affiliate Implementation

I'm looking for ideas on the easiest way to setup an affiliate system using PayPal.

Situation:

There is a nice lady selling products from her website (not WordPress). How she is selling:

- No buy it now buttons or shopping cart.

Instead, she has web pages with pictures of her products and she asks customers to send her money via PayPal and to include their name, address, and the name of the product in the PayPal message box.

Over the years she has managed to get thousands of products listed this way.

I happen to have a ton of traffic specifically related to her products.

So I was trying to come up with a plan where I could send her customers, get credit, and she could figure out what to pay me.

Nothing was coming to mind, but maybe you have an idea?

    Brian,

not sure if I got you completely right, but...

Are all of the products sold from the same domain? And do customers usually buy only one product at a time (i.e. she wouldn't need a shopping cart)?

If that's the case, would something like Rapid Action Profits solve the problem?

    Cheers,

    Regine

    Edit:

On second thought, RAP is probably not the easiest solution if she has thousands of existing products listed, as she'd have to set up all those products in RAP.

Yep, same domain and one product is usually sold at a time.

In that case, RAP would work for the affiliate program, but she'd have to set up all of her existing products in RAP, and also exchange all of her existing paypal links with a RAP order link. Probably not feasible...

Since her customers seem to be happy with the procedure, why don't you use an equally simple method:

Set some form of affiliate cookie when they first arrive on the page. After the paypal payment, return them to a simple web page on the same domain where they enter their address, the product etc into a simple form. Read out the cookie in the background and include it into a hidden form field. The submit button then stores the form data (including the affiliate id, if existing) in an easily accesible place.

Shouldn't be too hard to do for a decent programmer. (Did you buy Paul Myers' latest WSO? It contains most of the code you would need for that solution.)

It's not the height of technology, but since the old procedure works, this one will probably work just as well if she explains to her customers beforehand which steps they have to complete...

And the lady would probably feel comfortable with that solution.

        Just a thought.

E-Junkie has a great affiliate integration with Paypal. I would suggest you check them out.
