Found a product that excites you? Oh where to discuss it?

I've done quite a bit of research into SEO techniques and dabbled in a bit of internet writing, however I would like to know a place where you can legitimately chat about various categories of product and promote them to a targeted audience.

I believe that if you -

a) Find a product that excites you or you are passionate about.
b) Get blogging/chatting about that product with a similar interested group.
c) Then target that group with products.

You will be hitting that target audience with relevant content.

However, when googling around I find that points a) and b) are covered, but getting c) included is proving hard to come by.

Is there anybody that has similar thoughts to me but are just unsure of where to start?

The above approach will certainly work in some instances. However, if that product is '1958 Edsel dashboard inserts' your audience may be the limiting factor.

If you are going to get in the game for money, as opposed to self satisfaction, you need to find an audience that is not only hungry but also spends money in that niche.

Your excitement for a product will not guarantee profits, nor will it carry very much weight in the marketplace. It's primary benefit will be in the self satisfaction area where it may make it easier for you to keep your enthusiasm at a level that it allows you to stay in the game.

A better approach is to find a hungry market first and then see what kind of products they are buying.

Yep...That's the "marketing" in marketing, which is finding the market.

The key to marketing is to answer the specific question, "Where do I find customers (a market)?".

And until you can answer this question you won't make any money.
