where are my social bookmarking backlinks?

Maybe someone can help me set my expectations.

I have a blog which is automatically posting content through WP Robot. Each time it posts something it pings my OnlyWire account, and so bookmarks/updates are sent out to 15 or so social bookmarking / Web 2.0 sites.

I've given it some time now, and it's been a couple of weeks. I would have expected for the search engines to pick up these links to the pages on my website, so theoretically, if I use a backlink tracking tool, I should be able to see the search engines pick up links to these pages from digg et al. However, using Market Samurai, I do not see any backlinks.

I understand that no backlink tool will give you comprehensive results, but I was still surprised to not find anything at all.

Is it a matter of just waiting for enough time to pass? How long does it take? And, is it actually fair to expect to see all these links picked up by the SEs eventually, or not?

what you want to do is actually go to your bookmarking accounts and go to your profile URL and ping it with pingler.com

then you want to grab your profile URL RSS feed ping that too and submit it to RSS feed aggregator sites. This will virtually assure you that your links will be indexed by the search engines, so they will start counting for a little link juice.

But bookmarking is more used for indexing then strong backlinks, you want anchor text backlinks with your keyword and variations of your keyword. You want all sorts of different links back so it looks natural such as press releases, articles, web 2.0 blogs, web 2.0 profile links, .gov, .edu and .org links ect...

Also to check for how well someone is optimized in the search engine and what you real competition is type this string into google:

      intitle:"YOUR KEYWORD" inurl:"YOUR KEYWORD"

this will show you who really is optimized for that keyword and also show you if your links are indexed yet.

The key to SEO is never stop promoting your sites and all the sites you use to promote your sites with. What I mean is that you want to point backlinks, ping, and submit rss feeds for all your sites.

So in other words promote your backlinks too...

If you have heard somewhere that all you have to do to out rank your competition, is to use a tool like Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch or market samurai.

This will allow you too see the competitions backlinks and where from, so now all I have to do is get my backlinks from there sites they got them from or that all you need to do is get a few more backlinks than they have.

This is a myth, because the truth is if you want to do SEO right and long term, then you only stop promoting your sites and backlinks when you want to stop making money.

thats just my 2 cents... lol
