Site Disappeared, any ideas why?

I'm new to this so unsure why my site has disappeared from google. My home page does not show up for main keywords, not sure if it ever did. Not even showing up in similar search results.

I can only think of 3 things:

1. I haven't made any new posts or updates in 2 weeks
2. Changed and resubmitted sitemap twice
3. Changed my keywords in "All in One SEO" wordpress plugin

Does it take a while for your site to get indexed? I was under the impression once my sitemap was submitted, it would be indexed. I only have 7 inlinks so far, as more show up will this help?

Some of my other pages are indexed though, it says 18 urls indexed. Should I include tags or categories in sitemap? Is more URLS better?

Check if it shows up when you type in site:yourwebsite.com

make sure you do not include www.

It will most likely be google trying to place you correctly, do not worry. Just wait and backlink as often as you can.

If it takes someone 90 days to get their site indexed in Google, they are doing something seriously wrong.

Aliens. Yes, they are coming down to earth now and stealing websites. They then take the sites and load them onto a new universal net which we earthlings have not yet discovered.

Maybe that is why they have been here for so long. Because they can time travel, they have seen human kind in the future. They are superior to us in every sense. The only thing they can't seem to master is website creation. So, they had to stick around for a couple of Thousand years until we hit the internet age to nick our websites. The reason they couldn't just do a "time jump" and steal our sites is because Google has that angle covered. They have to actually be here now because Google had a script developed by Steven Hawkins that blocks time travel piracy.

when I do the check my site is there and a few pages of others urls.
I changed some of my page names and thus urls too, and now I have many duplicate pages, will this hurt me in the eyes of Google? Should I tell google not to index those pages that are no good anymore or will Google delete them when it reads my sitemap again?

Funny you say that, I am an astronomer and alien conspirator at heart, plus I love Star trek and Star Wars. I got a good laugh out of this, thank you.

Redirect (301) your old urls to your new urls.

Its quite common for new sites to drop in and out of google until it stabilizes. As long as your site shows for site:yoursite.com, there's no need to panic.

        What nonsense!
Only if you have the worst SEO skills in the known universe.
You can index any website in 24/48 hours easily.

It would help if you said what your site url was and then someone could offer some relevant and constructive help.

Like many questions (especially by newbies) put on this forum all your answers could be found easily if you spend a bit of time looking around the forum posts.

When you do have a question, give the full details and try and make the subject matter as specific as possible and you will get sensible, constructive, relevant and useful answers.

Saying your new does not somehow exempt you from actually making an effort. It's one of those behaviours that separate the successful from the failures. Don't be a failure and expect everyone else to give you all the answers. Put your groundwork in. It will pay you dividends in the long run and increase your potential for success.

I think Avenue Girl was trying to tell you the same thing but in a much more humorous way.

At the moment I don't think any of the posts have really answered your question but that's not their fault, they're working blind through lack of information and too broad a question.

    Apollo77,

No panic, do not worry it will come back within 3-4 days.

Your website isn't sandboxed, don't worry.

By the way, don't do anything like changing category, post etc. this is normal.

Yeah, thanks for your 0.5 cents. If you must know I do more than my fair share of research, I only started 2 months ago and only have 2 sites up because of doing so much research and learning the tools. I"m not complaining, I'd rather do this for a living than anything else, but I've had to learn html, wordpress, hosting domains, affiliate accounts seo, proper backlink building, and everything else.

I've learned quite a bit in 2 months and am a little familiar with webmaster tools, but I do not know all of googles rules or why certain things happen.

This is what forums are for, to get QUICK help sometimes, if you don't want to help fine, don't bother posting in my thread then.

For anyone else who wants to help or give advice, the URL I am questioning about is:

      http://www.pinggolfclubsstore.com/
Main keywords = Ping Golf Clubs

BTW, I know sites don't take 90 days to index, my first site was showing up before I even activated and submitted my sitemap. I just couldn't think of a reason why this site isn't showing. I've done RSS submits, manual directory submits and I wrote 2 articles and submitted to a dozen top sites, Hopefully this helps. Next some social bookmarking, maybe squidoo and yahoo answers.

Would appreciate anyone else ideas on proper link building strategies.

First note: If you really want SEO advice, then this thread should have been posted in the SEO subforum. A huge number of those who focus on SEO never venture over here.

Your site has 52 pages indexed when doing a "site:" search.

Note that you are going to need a combination of (1) time, and (2) lots and lots of backlinks (or perhaps just buy some really high PR ones:rolleyes. It is not the easiest of keywords, and 3 of the top 10 listings for me in Google are pages on Ping's site

For link building strategies, read the SEO subforum (not this forum), and every other source people link to over there. If you ask 100 SEO people what is the best linkbuilding strategy, you will get 100 different answers. You need to read, learn, and figure out what will work best for you.

Wow!!! what made you choose that keyword?
With that kind of competition it will take you over 6 month of heavy quality backlink building to make it to 1st page.

Two months ago I didn't even know what wordpress, html or IM was, I've had to learn a lot and this is only my 2nd site. I knew my first couple of sites would be tests and practice sites.

I was so revved up about making my sites, I didn't do proper keyword research and just jumped into it. After doing more research and learning over the last few weeks I know to target a more "micro niche" next time.

I still like the site though and have ideas for content improvement and other things. Already started article marketing and other BL building methods. I do know now, that this will take me a while to rank for and won't be my most profitable site (might even dump it after first year), but I am just starting and learning fast, my sites and niches will improve.

      Dan,

Try this, Download SEOQauke plugin for firefox. Go to your website and verify using SEOQuake that your PR is atleast a "0" not n/a. If it says n/a it might be sandboxed.

      Good Luck ....

  • Search for your URL... does it appear? If it does then it's indexed.

If you are not on the first page in the top 5 results for your target phrase it makes little difference.
