Domain URL's - Exact Domain Match Help

Market Samurai always suggests, when the 'keywordphrase.com' (or .org/net) is not available, an URL in the form of 'ekeywordphrase.com' (I've also heard of 'ikeywordphrase.com)

What's the forum's opinion on this? Has anyone seen an URL in this format on page one in the SERPS?

What's more likely to hit number one with decent backlinking... 'keywordphraseinfo.com' or 'ekeywordphrase.com'?

Many otherwise excellent niche possibilities no longer have exact domain match URLs available, so I'm looking to see what people think is the best way to go...

Opinions anyone?

I don't think it matters too much as long as the main keyword is in there.

If I can't get exact match I tend to add a word at the begining or the end of the domain name.

For example thekeyword.com or keywordreview.com - I think it looks better this way & is SEO friendly.

I've also seen domains with hyphens rank well, something like key-word.com

I wouldn't stress to much over it, as long as the keyword's in there & it looks natural you'll be fine.

Also make sure your on & off page SEO is good.

I wondered about adding an e to the front of my keyword also. I thought it looked strange, and worried google would read it wrong.

Also, I do know that if you are adding anything to your keyword, you should add it to the end ie: keywordblog.com, you want to have your keyword as close to the front/start as possible.

If you have to I would add a word that makes sense on the end of the URL.

For example, if you wanted to get airhockey.com or another extension but they are taken then you can add a word to make airhockeydepot.com or airhockeywarehouse.com which to me adds more value to your potential customer viewing the URL than a basic "e".

If you do searches in Google and look at the top ten you will see a variety of URL's. Some exact match URL, some with extra word added on the end and some with neither. So this shows that the URL is only a small part of the SEO needed to rank well.

It is said that an exact match especially the .com is best but there is nothing saying anything else can not rank either. It just may need a little more work and I mean a little.

Oh, I'm sure lots of opinions on this one. TLD preference (personally) .com, .net, .org, .info (I feel there can be value in these cheapies if developed right ) : personally, not a fan of adding 'i' or 'e' without exploring alternatives.

    Here's my two cents:
    1) Concise as possible (exact match preferable)
*exception: branding or just for the heck of it. If that's what your domain's for, then just reg it. Who cares about keywords then Buuuuut:
    a) AdjectiveKeyword.combo (bestkeyword.tld, newkeyword.tld, etc)
    b) thekeyword.tld , keywordreview.tld, keywordreviews.tld, keywordsite.tld, keywordblog.tld, keywordshop.tld, etc (this is the MOST flexible way to make your keyword available that I've found; lots of single-word options that have meaning)
    c) actionkeyword (getkeyword, findkeyword, keywordsearch, keywordfinder)
    d) add letter/number (2keyword, keyword4u.tld, ekeyword.tld, ikeyword (but these are my lease favorite and can seem silly)
    2) Hyphens between keywords (insert adjective in some cases)
    a) keyword-phrase.tld
    b) keywordphrase-review(s).tld, keywordphrase-site.tld, keywordphrase-blog.tld
    c) adjective-keywordphrase.tld (prefer to keep phrase together when possible)
    d) verb-keywordphrase.tld (get-keywordphrase.tld)
    3) Multi-hyphens (bleh, but "meh"....)
*note: I personally don't bother if I have to use more than 1-hyphen, I'll find a different adjective/action-verb combo.
**exception: readability. Sometimes breaking up the word is easier on the eyes.
(I personally feel that there is probably a "grey area" on what would be too many hyphens in the eyes of the Search Engines, hard to know for sure)
    a) best-keyword-phrase.tld (ok if it helps readability)
    b) long-tail-keyword-phrase.tld (borderline, makes me cringe a tad )
    c) best-long-tail-keyword-phrase-for-less.tld (are you serious? find a different niche if you need to do this)

I think everyone has their own strategies; I lean towards keyphrase at beginning where possible, but I also have some for branding, some for experimenting, some for clients, and some for fun.

I've read somewhere that it's better to add a letter/word after your desired keyphrase. So keyword1keyword2..something.com
But I like hyphenated domains more keyword1-keyword2.com

as for me. there is indeed nothing better than that to have the exact match domain name. if in case its no longer available, I dont use "e" or "i" before my keyword domain, I would rather use terms that implies sale after the keyword domain. Terms like domainreviews.com, domaincritics.com, domaindeals.com etc. I usually taget .com, .net and .org domain extensions. Also, I am not a fan of domains with dashes.

And if you have some cash to spare. go for purchasing exact domains after market. iits worth the investment.
