What was your 'Aha' moment?

...that moment when you felt you've got the missing piece of the puzzle and everything else made sense from there. I mean that ebook, magic tip, article, etc that did it for you.

None, there is no puzzle and there is nothing missing in the first place.

This mindset causes many people to go round in circles looking for the magic pill when there isn't any.

To be successful online, you have basically got to have more money coming in than going out.

I don’t know if that is what you looking for but for me the ‘Aha’ moment was after I read this article. The Answer Factory: Demand Media and the Fast, Disposable, and Profitable as Hell Media Model | Magazine. It was like, Aha, that is what I am up against.

I totally agree. Was there a time, in getting to convert traffic, when you felt, 'this is it. Finally...'

For me, I think it was earning my first $39.95 for an ebook, back in 1999.

Up until that point, making money online was a great "idea".

That was when the "idea" became reality.

The day I made my first sale online and I kept racking them up. I look at the Internet as an endless possibility to make some real big money it amazes me that everyone out there doesn't see it the same way as we do.

Where else can you have a fully functional online business where you can sell your merchandise from your spare bedroom to people in China, Brazil, Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Japan and all over this great big world.

The Internet is the best invention ever it opened up the doors for normal people to compete with fortune 500 companies and make a lot of money in the process.

I was very frustrated at first. Everything I learned seemed like they were leaving stuff out. Either stuff that they didn't want me to know, or that they were so far past that they didn't think needed mentioning.
Being broke at the time didn't help when looking if I should actually buy something that might have the answers I was looking for.

I just happened to come across a Willie Crawford product that I took a chance on.
It was 278 pages of "aha!" moments.

you were lucky to run in to real class before giving up.

Like when someone here posts a 'help I can't make any money' post when they have a 'make $300 a day' link in their sig... there is a lot of information 'out there' with either bad info or left out items, by design or inexperience. 'Out there is like that post, but on steroids. There are a lot of active, sharing, caring and knowledgeable people in this forum which makes a member here really have a step up on those 'out there'.

It was definitely when I made my first sale on Clickbank. All my hard work had finally paid off.

I was like, "Woah, this stuff actually works".

Internet Marketing comes down to two main points:
    1. Getting Traffic
    2. Getting that traffic to remain interested/buy the product

      Was it effective? For me.
It still took me just under two years to reach that goal but that was more about overcoming things about myself than any problem with the material. One of which is that I'm an info-zombie. I love learning. But that can make you lose your focus. Like right now, I have an idea for a niche website, I have all the info I need to start work on it, but what am I doing? Mucking about here in the forum.

Focus and action, combined with a little knowledge - is all.

It answered a lot of the questions I had at the time. Not that you can't find the answers for yourself for free, but if you don't even know something exists how can you ask a question about it?

About 50 pages in I realized I needed to print this up and put it in a binder I could look at while online. (I'm old school, still like paper books)

But you have this forum. Back then I didn't even know about this forum.
And I'm not even a War Room member yet. I haven't purchased a single WSO yet.
But the material available here for free...do I have to list the gems I've discovered here?

      • 95 Point Checklist for Writing Better Copy
      • KeyWordEye - Visual Keyword Search Tool
      • Step by Step Bum Article Marketing
      • Article Directories
      • Places for Press Releases
      • List Building with other Internet Marketers
      • The list goes on...
Yeah, I'm on couple hundred email lists now...so what.
Yeah, there was a lot of stuff that turned out to be trash, but there is absolute gold in that trash.
Just reading questions other people have gives me ideas.

But the ultimate answer is that you're not going to find the "secret", in a book, or a piece of software, or a video.

      The secret is inside you.

I'm a blogger, and I had been writing news articles for almost a decade. The traffic would rise and then fall away a few days later, so I had to keep writing every day to keep going. Like keeping a fire lit.

The AHA moment for me was when I accidently wrote an article based on something that people search for. The traffic picked up and then it never dropped off again. Even now, two years later, it's still one of the most profitable articles on my site. I realized that I just needed to write hundreds more articles like it. Once I did that, I started to make seriously good money from my "blogging".

Realizing that "targeted content + backlinks + monitization = traffic and profit" and the more you build, the more you profit ( I,m promoting physical products ).

Also, if your traffic isnt converting very high, then dont be afraid of adding other monetisation methods and testing how they do, Ive just had to do this with a site while I build more targeted traffic and the combination is working quite well for now.

Nothing else to it really, no fancy convoluted gimmicks, its that simple. I think that's the key, not getting bogged down with gimmicks, just keeping it simple.

Based from my experience, the only time I really made good money online is to model what the successful people are doing, (In this case, I follow my mentor) and don't reinvent the wheel.

Non of the products I bought made me money. It is when I signed up to a mentoring program, I started implementing everything that my mentor says and Aha! I got money coming into my Clickbank account.

It is due diligence and work smart.

My 'aha' moment was when I finally got it through my thick skull that online business was really no different than offline business because both are relationally driven....there are many who want to hold out the belief that relationships are strictly an offline business sort of thing....there is no difference....

Y'know, you made a really good point there. People, newbies mostly, think that online business is sort of different. Real success comes when you treat your online business like your regular offline marketing.

I have several and I hope they NEVER stop. It's a great
feeling of accomplishment and personal growth.

    Three MAJOR "aha" moments were:

    1. Watch a millionaire and do as they do, parallel to what
they say...and if what they say doesn't completely match
what they do -- don't fret, it was most likely overlooked
and thought to be common sense or purposely left out to
FORCE you to think for yourself, which is a GOOD thing.

    3. Think for yourSELF. Be CREATIVE, but be compromising
to your ego to "re-invent the wheel". In other words, don't
let your desire to be different sabotage any chances of
success by following what works...while at the same time
adding YOUR flavor to the mix.

(thinking for yourself is how you make money. It's HARD to
do when you were trained for years of your life to get a
job...not an easy habit to break)

    3. Business is about QUALITY traffic, and using traffic to
    generate leads for repeat business.

There is one method I followed that overnight made a few
hundred bucks, but it came when I knew it would take X
amount of traffic to get the results I want...the system
was missing THIS important piece of the puzzle...a piece
I suspect the author KNEW was important to know to some
one looking to "get rich quick"....

but I knew better, and added the extra ingredient (more
traffic)...suddenly, sales flowed in and continue to.

Before, one or two sales a year in clickbank was the most
I could ever manage...but upon learning the important of
quality traffic -- it all changed in a few minutes of work.

    4. I know there were others, but I have work to do and
can't sit here and think of them all to put here...hopefully
what is written is helpful to someone...it was certainly
    helpful to me.

Yeah its an old Thread but I will play along because it might hit a chord with some.

The very first Click on Adsense which was for $1.27 I got 8 years ago was an 'aha' moment for me. Of course monetarily is was nothing but it showed me that a person could actually earn real money online.

I thought it was only a Myth up until that time.
