I hope this stays in the main as this is the audience that needs this info, and it doesn't apply to "search engines".

SEO isn't just for Google, Yahoo and Bing. Virtually any site you submit something to will have a search engine.

Webmasters will use EZA's search engine to find relative articles. There's search engines for your Tweets.

People even use the search and tag functions of forums, maybe even the Warrior Forum.

And did you know the Youtube search function is actually the second most popular search site now, after Google? More people search Youtube than do at Yahoo or Bing.

Think about it...If you're going to do SEO for Yahoo, and Youtube gets more searches, why are you NOT applying the same effort to optimize the tags and subjects of your videos, articles, software submissions, etc?

Some advice is to just "write for humans". Others say to optimize for the search. I disagree with both. Instead I try to write for humans SEARCHING for something. IMO, that's the optimal train of thought.

Use basic SEO on-page principles and research "tags as you would keywords". Tags are just words that have been ID'ed as keywords. It doesn't hurt to do a little supply/demand research at Youtube for tags that have the most searched (demand) and fewest videos (supply).

If you create and submit content that uses basic on-page SEO, you can greatly increase your traffic with little extra effort, especially over time as your optimization "accumulates".
